I'm sure if they still do, but at one point Stowe offered such a guarantee. Several years ago I didn't have a pass there and spent $75 or whatever it was at the time for a day ticket. It was probably the only time I've ever seen Burlington get snow and Stowe got freezing rain, complete inversion. I scraped my way down a frozen solid Lord and got a voucher for another day. Today, I would have probably toughed it out. At the time, $75 was a lot more money to me and I wasn't skiing that much that winter so I wanted it to be a good day.

$75 is still a lot of money for a ticket, and if conditions are total crap I see no reason to "tough it out" when you can get a voucher and come back another day.

I know that Okemo lets you ski the first hour free. So if the conditions suck, you're not out anything.
And it's on the way to Killington. Haven't done it yet, but I've thought about checking out the place for an hour before heading on to Killington.

Skiing and riding is suppose to be adventure not how many rides on the lift you get or how many runs you get. Conditions always change. The only part is when a mountain let's every thing freeze in to boiler plate cause of bad dissucions on maintaning the mountain. The style of the this sport is sad today. Groomed trails, fast lifts what ever. Take the challange in any conditions. Learn to ski and ride whats there that day it will make you better appreciation of how this all started. I could not give a crap if any thing was groomed. If my skies will slide over it i will come down it. I used to ski on nothing less the 210's. Today skies are a joke. You can't even buy long boards. Bad enough we have shaped boards. I still break out the old Fisher 215's once and a while. If you want to learn how to ski take up ice skating, basic techinques are used for skiing.

Nice post and there are plenty of 200CM and longer skis available online and at specialty ski racing shops..
