Hmmm .. to me Death Cookies are not in large quantities. I think of these more as little gems that were missed or spit out by a groomer on an otherwise predictable surface condition. They're the visible things that could strip a ski from you as apposed to Snow Snakes which are responsible for unexplained crashes.

Corn, marbles, baseballs and such would be more the condition a trail is left in after a groomer tries to break up the refreeze following a rain.
