Sorry but I have to agree with him. The snowmaking at Mtn Creek is almost embarrassing considering they have over 1000 snowguns. If their snowmaking system is so great, then why are they only blowing on on Horizon and Sugar Slope on Vernon right now? If their system was good, then they would be blowing on alot more than the horrendous beginner terrain at Vernon. No intermediate or advanced run has a gun on it, and Granite has no snowmaking at all at the moment. The temps allow, but they aren't blowing.

good point. MC has very little air capacity hence the reason they can only blow on one top to bottom trail on the Vernon side. In addition, they don't have enough fans to compensate for the lack of air.

Intrawest installed the "greatly improved" snowmaking system nearly 10 years ago and by todays standards that system is no longer on the forefront of technology. In the midatlantic places like Big Boulder/JF, Sno Mountain have much more modern technology and it shows. Mountain Creek is all hype, and the fact that big boulder has been open for nearly 3 weeks is testament to how crappy the system is at Mountain Creek. BB is only a few degrees colder with a much better system...

Big Boulder is alot colder than Mountain Creek..more than a few degrees..Camelback is a few degrees colder than Mountain Creek and Big Boulder is a few degrees colder than Camelback. The base of Big Boulder is a couple hundred feet higher than the summit of Mountain Creek. Even if Mountain Creek had the best snowguns in the world, they wouldn't be open except maybe a rail park or a bunny hill based on the recent temperatures..How many trails is Mountain Creek blowing on right now?

MC announced today that they will open at both Vernon and South/Bear on Saturday. If they get something decent on Vernon (as in basically anything but horizon), I'll probably go, if not I'll just head north to Belleayre and open my season there.

They've been blowing snow at Campgaw for the last few days too. Now when I'm on my way to my son's day care I have to be distracted by the snow covered trail while I'm trying to drive.

There are definitely new owners at Hidden Valley and they are busy working on fixing up as much as they can this season.

It is amazing how rumors get started. Nothing at the resort was reposessed before it was sold.

Ah, I was hoping they were blowing at Vernon and Granite. Oh well, guess they aren't preparing to have more terrain open on opening day afterall, probably just piddly stuff like Horizon and maybe a run in Great Northern.
That whole mountain is PIDDLY!!
