P.S. To all those of you trolling me on the "we'll be lucky to see one trail off the superquad by Nov 17", I stick by that. I also will point out that what is going on tonight is pretty much a snowmaking test, because it's pointless as a base making operation. Blowing snow in so so temps on HOT, wet ground when the forecast sucks for the entire coming week is DUMB, unless it's simply a test. I don't think they're going to start snowmaking for real for over a week yet, or wait, gee whiz...not until Nov 4thish. If they are snowmaking for real and choose to try to make snow all this week, well then, I think they're nuts, I was basing my guesstimations on the people making the decisions actually being some degree of sane.

Dinner time tommrow or today?? According to the NOAA 3000 foot elevation forecast for kingfield it's going to be raining by midnight tommorow?!?!?

That is a weird forecast, low of 21 and mixing with rain after 2am. They often contradict themselves like that, I wouldnt worry about it too much. Thursday with a high of 42 and a chance of showers is more scary.

Also the dinner time comment was for sunday river, not sugarloaf

No, it's not a weird forecast...it simply means the low for the night is going to be hit shortly after dark before a warm front comes thru.

I'm still lost on this dinner time comment. I got that it was for the river, but does it mean they started at dinner time today or tommorow?? Not that it really matters, as this is all testing and hype anyway.

It meant dinner time tonight

And note the hourly weather graph (theres a link to it on the bottom of the page) it shows a temperature around 30 at dusk, and a temp of about 21 at dawn.

Ak posted guns go on at dinner time at the river.

I think it's pretty much a solid bet then that Mt. Snow will have the guns going as well tonight. Wonder if any of the NY areas will open up the guns tonight, is it supposed to be cold enough in the Catskills?

I would imagine it's going to be cold enough tonight for everyone to test their systems and make something that looks white. In the north, they should be able to make enough for a skis on photo op.. Almost every hill big mountain does a test every year. If they discover they have a problem tonight, they then have atleast a week to fix it.

So, um what about the part where you said, "we're dreaming if we thing the Loaf will be blowing snow before November 1st" ?????? Nice how you dodged that one in defense of your 17th claim.

So, this doesn't count? Because you think it's a test? ROFL. Okay, so what's the 'snowman line' in terms of accumalation that constitutes a test as opposed to real actual snowmaking?

Well, they're not blowing it for keeps. This is a test. The ground is so warm there is going to be steam rising off of it. Snowmaking for keeps isn't going to start for another week or so. If they are trying to make it for keeps, and they blow at every marginal opportunity from here on out, well then, I was wrong, and they are nuts.

That's really strange. I didn't see the graph. If you have snow changing to rain at 2 am, you would think it's gonna warm up thru the night. 4 hour warm front??? Maybe it's warmer around 10,000?? But then they would be forecasting snow changing to freezing rain. It just doesn't make any sense.

Probably a mistake. The next update might made more sense. The winds also conflict with the mixing of rain after 2am as the beginning of the night has winds from the southwest shifting to a west and eventually northwest wind throughout the night.

If your talking about the Sugarloaf chat, I have nothing to do with confirmations, its not my site, email the admin or try to register again.

If you signed up as snowman there, then you must have forgotten you password

Yeah, I tried signing up a couple times but never got confirmation emails. I didn't use snowman, I have no idea what names I used now. I figured you would be in charge of that. Well that sucks, their poor system makes you look bad.

They have the change over taking place in all the northern Maine forecasts though? Maybe they got the temp chart wrong? Who knows.
