I'm hoping to go bigger this year. If I have a good bike year going big I can usually run it into the ski season and keep the progression going. I finished last year off with a dislocated ring finger, broken pinky and a near concusion when I crashed @ Highlands on the last day of the season. It really messed up my head for the winter so I played it safe. This year I've been doing all the big drops ( 8'+ ) and feel good about going into this season. When you get old like me (34 w/two replaced ACL's and Lat. ligaments) you need to take baby steps in going big. One goal this year is to gap out to the transition of the rock in G.B. @ Jay, the one in my picture.

You bike at Highlands? Any trip reports from that? I'd love to hear your thoughts about the place.

Usually don't get too far off the snow. Like many posters above - daffies, twisters, spreads. Would like to nail a helicopter (360 to the young ones) one of these days. Friend of mine does it and he is in his late 30s - kind of psycho...

I really wish that I had started skiing when I was younger. Then I could look back on all the jumps and other insanity I had done. Starting at 30 pretty much kills the whole going big thing. Unless it's by accident. I did look UP at Corbet's once though.

Its 70 degrees out, there is enough rain in the forecast so as to make it possible to swim to work tomorrow and my older daughter cracked a spike on the kitchen floor this morning.

so taking all that into consideration, YES, it counts.

Sweet!!!! Then yes, I still go as big as ever! :spread: :daffy:

Ill usully clear any of the park jumps with basic straight airs. Its amazingly smooth on landing if you land on the landing part. Landing flat on a table top is killer.

This year I hope to work on spins.

13 and just starting up! :-D Last year I landed my 3's like any grab (not a rocket air:angry: ) I can do rails boxes. I do this while maintaining an even balance between park and mountain riding.

By learning how to go big on a wakeboard I have really stepped up my snowboarding. I tried a flip a couple times on a wakeboard and came up short. Imagine comeing up short on a snowboard...

I've always had a serious fear of falling, so having air underneath me is scary stuff.
On skis, I'll take some small air during fast descents.

Otherwise, going big for me means jumping off a 10 foot boulder into a swim hole (river) or taking a drop on an overhead wave when surf's up. Still scary but what a charge!

I go bigger on my bike then I go on my skis these days. ACL 2 years ago, before that I was hitting everything in the park. Now I don't go in the park. I've dropped the waterfall at stowe. But that was when I was 29....

OK, so if we going to be nostalgic, yeah, I've taken the frozen waterfall on Paradise (Mad River) on a powder day a couple of times when that trail wasn't on the map yet... ahh, memories...

Not to change topics but you can go to BustedSpoke.com and review the reports from others on the place or go to highlandmountain.com and check out thier site. I think the place is sick and can only get better...now back to your regularly scheduled thread....

At 36 I try to keep my skis in contact with the snow now. I dont mind doing drops but I dont seek out "jumps" like I used to in my teens and twenties. Daffys, big long twisters, twister spreads and backscratchers were the norm back in the day.

Now I'm really into the sensation of the turn.
