I think by Wednesday December 20th, we'll start speculating on a storm that is about 6-8 days away.

I think that we'll be speculating that the storm will be cold and have enough moisture, but may be too much of a quick mover to put the real dump down.

(yes, things have gotten this bad)

I predict a snow storm 12/21 through 12/22 as I will be away and conditions always get better if I am on travel and can't ski. I will be away until New Year's eve so enjoy it!

And then nothing will happen like with all of the other amateur analysis on all the other threads and it will be 50-60 degrees again. Time to reopen the pool.

Matt Noyes (mattnoyes.blog.com), a trained meterologist speculates that it's likely that cold air wil cover the east mid-to-late next week and goes on to say, "there's well-grounded scientific reasoning to expect this storm to track within a couple of hundred miles of the East Coast. An inland track would bring a shot of snow - perhaps Christmas Eve or Christmas Day - as the incoming warmth and moisture collides with the cool airmass in place, though this inland track would also mean a change to rain. A track up the coastline or just off the coast would result in snow for most of us, and a track close enough to the coastline would mean a decent storm. This is why I insist that - for now - there remains plenty of hope for a last-minute Christmas miracle of a White Christmas. Still lots that would have to come together, but still certainly a reasonable possibility."

Maybe Rudolph gets some work this year afterall.

Happy Trails
