I'm not usually a fan of the "make it look deep" powder skiing photos that come out of the east, or the go-pros, but I have to say that this is pretty sick........

Oops, my bad, sweet nonetheless. I skied Exterminator on Wednesday, it was nicely bumped up then, thanks for getting them started.

How can you even see where you are going?

Believe it or not, if you know the run is hazard free, there is no need to see. Big mountain skiers who are comfortable in deep powder are also comfortable skiing in limited visibility or complete white out conditions (often a first tracks requirement). If the snow is consistent, you can ski eyes open or eyes closed and there's little difference. Practically everything you need comes from feeling the action of your skis underneath you. If you do end up in a foot or more powder on a trail you know, try closing your eyes and prove it to yourself.

On the other hand, this guy skied this run tips buried. There's nothing wrong with this style but it can also be rewarding to shift the weight slightly back and use the camber of a turning ski in the snow for elevation changes within the powder. My favorite powder runs are when the skis compress in the snow and then I can use the rebound from the skis to launch out of the powder after the turn and then sink again for the beginning of the next turn. Popping out of the powder also offers a chance to see and plan a few turns ahead.

Epic fresh powder in France (waist deep) and plenty of old powder (knee deep) left in Switzerland. I only have a couple pics but I'll post up a short trip report soon.
