Those are the trails where you're most likely to see non-expert skiers going at speeds beyond their ability.

Right. And they are probably the ones most "scared" by bumps. Moreso than even the treeline I would bet.

i agree that these bump buffers "could" turn into launch zones but if they're sno-cat wide that might be enough. for example at killington on lower superstar on the lower headwall, skiers left is usually left ungroomed and there's usually a bump line on skiers right. needles eye, double dipper and ol also would work in that regard. in general you'd need trails with that type of width for that to be effective.

i guess resorts could be a little more cognizant of where these trouble spots might exist; double fall line where the trail slopes off towards the woods for example, and put something like this bump buffer zone into practice in those spots.
