Resort or Ski Area: Stowe, VT

Conditions: Mixed

Trip Report:

After skiing Jay on Saturday, we headed to Stowe on Sunday. My first time at Stowe as well. Wasn't as pretty of a day, but the mountain was fairly empty with the Super Bowl. Snapped this picture while the clouds were only covering the peaks:

The exposed runs at the top of the main quad and the gondola were pretty wind-scoured, but the more protected areas further down the mountain and in the trees still held some great snow. Some good lines in the ravine below Nosedive, although the creek at the bottom was a little sketchy (didn't realize until after the first run through there that it was technically out-of-bounds):

Enjoyed some of the runs over on the Spruce side, which was empty and sunnier. Some coverage issues, but some nice soft bumps on Whirlaway and Smuggler's:

Probably the best snow (besides the woods) was down near the triple lift. The liftline, Hackett's Highway, was fun:

And we also enjoyed some of the mellow, meandering cruisers (as advised by the "tips" on the back of the trail map, we took it easy late in the day):

We had a great time at Stowe, minus the howling wind at the top. Definitely want to get back there to explore further...there were lots of areas we didn't get to check out.

I've gotten stuck down there the 2 times I've been to Stowe, never really finding the best way out of there!
