AIG CEO Ed Liddy has been saying this in numerous news outlets for the last 2 months. www.boston.com is one of many,,,just Google it.

A major sticky wicket is what would the buyer do about the remaining 200m to be invested out of the 400m planned developement at Spruce. Personally, I think they have the major pieces already in,,,the new golf course, the transfer lift and the new Lodge. Button it up and put the second phase on hold until the economy improves.

Anyways, so what do you yahoos think the asking price will be but in truth it might not become public until a deal is made.

My money is on $200M, especially because of the permits and current construction contracts.

Times two and Stowe is one of the few places worth that much although most of my skiing at Stowe is late season when prices are reduced to about $45 a day with a multiday purchase..

Think of it this way. The higher the purchase price, the more the owner will have to do to squeeze every last $100 out of you. AIG never really operated anything - it was MMC, and AIG was the piggy bank. So the next question is, who has deep enough pockets without evil intent? Gee, I hope it's not some oil baron from the middle east......Maybe WE should begin lobbying, instead of talking to ourselves....

I didn't even think of that..I wouldn't be surprised if Win is a wee bit curious about the sale price..they could run busses between Stowe/Sugarbush and Burlington..make it the ultimate east coast winter destination with a combined lift ticket and ski and stay deals. Ski Castlerock and the front four in the same day...

If I am right...doesn't Vail Resorts have some claim (via a subsidiary, Rock Resorts) to a hotel in the Stowe area? I think it is planning on opening for the 2010 - 2011 ski season. Wouldn't it make sense for them to throw their hat in the offering?
