Was up there last night, but left early morning when things were still socked in and didn't get to the see the white stuff.

In all my years living in Stowe and visiting since, I have never seen as much traffic in town as I saw on Sunday. unreal

Glad to know that the traffic isn't typical. It took me 45 minutes to get from Stowe to 89 yesterday. I was worried it was normal weekend traffic and I became suddenly very concerned about weekend skiing.

45+ minutes from the mountain to Exit 10 on 89 is not unusual during winter weekends

I just go through Spruce Hollow. Avoids the mess on 100. 108 you're screwed no matter what though.

Best bet is just to stop at the Matterhorn for a couple of beers and wait for the traffic to mellow.

Google maps show spruce hollow as a dead end street off 108. Do you mean Stowe Hollow?

I like the Matterhorn approach =)

sorry yes, Stowe Hollow.

To get familiar with it, it's easier to try it from the Waterbury side. Just make a right on the road for Tanglewood's restaurant and you basically stay to the right at most of the intersections along the way. It dumps you out at the North edge of the Village, then you can head up 100 and avoid the bottom section of 108 by taking Mayo Farm and Cape Cod roads.

I avoid a lot of 108 and the village by going Moscow to Barrow to Luce Hill Rd

Nice Thank you! I'll take this route next weekend and do some exploring!

Just be very careful of speed traps going the route WWF suggests, especially near the High School. That is the route you would normally take pretty much every time you go to the mountain; much quicker than going through Stowe Village. My route suggestion is only for times of extreme traffic on 100. 15 years ago, 100 was not an issue, but the amount of businesses on the road has almost doubled in that time, so there is a lot more turning traffic. You won't save a lot of time going the route I suggested, but you also won't be sitting in traffic either.

Noted, thank you!

I'd rather drive slow than sit in a long line of cars breathing fumes.
