You just have to know where/ to go at Stratton. Park at the Sun Bowl, ski the trees, and you'll be fine! Using my free ticket on Friday, should be some decent snow left in the trees!

I will give it that, some nice snow in certain areas in the trees. Likely because only 5 percent of the people there dare to enter.

Correct, I did find some nice blue trees off of the Sun Bowl side which was nice. I tried to stick to the Kidderbrook side as I remember it being less traveled but didn't realize they had taken that lift out and all roads now lead to Sun Bowl, which the crowds had lightened up siginificantly after lunch. We did park at Sun Bowl as all other lots were full, crowds did end up being light on that side but it was still like crushed ice thrown on a chalkboard AKA PP. I will leave my return here for the warmer spring days when I have enjoyed Stratton most.

I park at the main area, because I need to get my ticket there. I have not waited on a single lift line more than 2 or 3 chairs any time i have been there this year(I have only been midweek though).

The trees over in the Sunbowl had a lot of un-tracked in them yesterday.

I grew up skiing Stratton every weekend but that was when it was fixed-grip double chairs and the only snowmaking was on the lower mountain.

A few points:
Why would anyone go to Stratton on a weekend? You know they have far too much uphill capacity so the surface will suck by 11:00.

WiFi is unnecessary for the typical Stratton customer. They either have an iPhone or Blackberry for their wireless access or they have "people" back in the "city" they can order around to do the things the little people at other mountains need Web and email access for. ...and it's called WiFi because some marketing suit didn't think IEEE 802.11 wasn't a snappy enough name.

I have two Stratton free tix. One from their cell phone text message deal. One as Warren Miller movie SWAG. I plan on using them midweek either on a powder day when KMart gets less snow than Flatton or in the spring when the place has corn snow.

that makes sense... also as to why Killington DOES have it... Thanks Geoff...

Weird moment 2: I go in to warm up mid-mountain around 10 am, and I'm taking my skis off next to a whole bunch that are laid against the foundation, not racked. Well, this kid, maybe 8, runs into them, knocking the whole lot of them to the ground. He instantly turns at me, while I'm still removing my skis, points at me in a panic, and screams, "He did it." Then he runs away, with people looking at me.

.

That is hilarious..I've only skied Stratton twice..it's five+ hours from me and in 7 hours I can be at Stowe..so I only skied there once with my Dad in 10th grade and with a free pass 3 years ago..
