First day of the season!

Rolled in around 11AM and had to park in Lot 1 and shuttle in. Whatever that smaller hotel was by Lot 1 is now a pile of rubble. The bus driver wasn't sure what was going there. He said he heard rumors, but for now, more parking.

The skiing was pretty good over all. They had a number of top to bottom runs and coverage was good. A few of the wider trails weren't edge to edge, but certainly enough to handle the traffic. In the afternoon, things got slick on the steeper sections. That pitch on Spruce was boilerplate. Once wrong move and it would have been a scary slide. Overall, a good first day. It was one of the busier first days we've seen in awhile. Not sure if that's because of cheap passes or that opening was on a Saturday, not Thanksgiving Day.

Let's have some fun with this pic @ Mulligan's. Anyone want to get the tab for: A 9oz Pinot Grigio and a Von Trapp Pilsner Pint?

Hmmm, lots of rich New Yorkers ski at Stratton, so I'm going to guess the tab for the two drinks was north of $20.

Ridiculous! Not sure how you get back down to your place from the mountain but, have you checked out the Grindstone in Bondville? Locally owned, reasonable prices, good menu and excellent food quality. http://grindstonepub.com/

Grindstone is fantastic... and if you’re looking for something a little nicer, Seesaw’s lodge is ten or so minutes up the road, right next to Bromley. Great atmosphere and reasonable pricing also.

We take 30 South. But that place isn't that far at all. Looks like it's where the Fat Spy used to be?

Seesaw's...thanks for that tip as well!

Anyone know whatever happened to Whiskey Dick's? (The name always cracked me up)
