Now im asking this price aside. My sister and I are mostly intermediate skiers who prefer nice long groomed runs, i can do some steeps and have just started trying moguls, i have no real interest "yet" of goin down 40degree steeps or riding thru trees or goin over bumps as big as me, i understand that my skiing style is probably boring to some of you who must be constantly challenged but i just havent gotten to that point yet. Hitting a 8 iron from 150 yards out to within 2feet of the pin probably gives me that feeling you have when goin thru trees in 2feet of powder. Anyway i know both these mountains have a reputation of having easier terrain, their blacks would be blues at most other places, but which is better for the overall skiing experience for nice relaxed long cruisers but still some challenge if you want it, any info would help thanks.

Go Okemo, Stratton is too high priced. Both have good lines on weekends. Okemo seems to have a better variety, at least last time I went. Stratton is very "cookie cutter" if I remember right.

you can;t go wrong with either of them for cruising. both mountains are actually laid out the same. the only difference is that Okemo has the Jackson Gore area.

a pro for Okemo is that it;s the bigger mountain with more vertical and terrain. the terrain is pretty easy too but the length of trails might give you the challenge you need. as long as you can get around the slow and crowded lifts at the bottem and that you have to take a shuttle bus from the parking lot, you should have fun.

a pro of Stratton is that I think because it;s so expensive, it might be less crowded which might add to your enjoyment. they have these 6 passenger lifts. i;d say stratton was the easier of the 2 resorts.

Did you ever make it to mount snow with you GF last week?

Out of your choices, I'd go with Okemo. Kmart's not too far away from their either. Believe it or not I'd rather ski Killington than Stratton.

My .02 :p

The price differential between Okemo and Stratton on a weekend is about $4. I think both mountains have similar terrain that tends to be most pleasing to those who enjoy cruising buffed corduroy. I would give a slight edge to Stratton: better lift system and the Sunbowl lodge allows parking close to the lifts. Okemo's long runs are all off of one quad that gets huge lines. Stratton has a gondola that gets big lines, but has several six packs.

My personal preference would be to ski Magic Mtn when there is decent snow than Okemo or Stratton.

Stratton is definitely nicer. But I'd go to Magic also, a lot less crowded, and better snow.

it depends on the skier. you want to take your beginner and intermediate friends to Stratton or Okemo because you know those resorts are geared toward pleasing the masses. a good day at these resorts could boost the confidence of a beginner or intermediate sky high and have them hooked for life. it;s cruising heaven.

if you want to impress people, bring them to Killington. while killington is okay for beginners and intermediates, it takes a stronger skier to take advantage of the what Killington has to offer that might be lost on a beginner. i have taken beginners to killington and they ended up staying snowshed and great eastern all day which was kind of a waste.

What's up, neighbor ;)
How was the skiing with the GF?

I've always liked Okemo better. The layout, the atmosphere... It can get a little crowded though.

Sugarbush...Ok, Ok, Okemo...

But really, ever think to check out New Hampshire?

Waterville, Loon, Cannon...I had a long Vermont Layoff there for awhile...then on the other side...Black, Attitash out of North Comway...and the river is only 1 hour...

Now if you want some awesome cruisers...you want the river

well tekweezle the cruisers im into right now so that should suit me well. My uncle who grew up in oregon skiing and lives in florida now is coming here in 2weeks has never skied anywhere in the northeast and hes pretty bent on goin to killington, then again hes an expert so it should be a good time, even though i probably wont do some of those runs hes gonna be going on.

I've always preferred Stratton over Okemo.

Yes, Stratton will leave your wallet feeling a little light at the end of the day. You do get what you pay for, great lifts, great service, better food, a better lodge. I like the fact that you can access all 90 or so of Stratton's terrain from one summit. Okemo's trails all seem to be so damn homogonized on the main face.

The differences really aren't that great, you'll have a great time at either resort.
