There are also a lot of Killington season pass holders down the road who really like skiing into May and won't be doing it at KMart. It's smart marketing for Sugarbush to get some of them to drive up and see what they're all about. Many are year-to-year share house people who could easily change mountains.

I've talked to several people while on the lift this season at the 'Bush who are ex-K-mart folk. All seemed to love the Bush and all seemed to be liking their "new mountain".

It's a pretty common migration to go from KMart to the Mad River Valley. I assess doing it myself or moving up to Stowe every year but it's pretty painful to sell my KMart place and relocate. All of us at KMart have always had this love/hate relationship with the place. This year was very different since they detoxed weekends but dramatically shortened the season. As an every-weekend warrior, the shorter drive and all the people I've known at KMart since the early 80's are also considerations.

I suspect that if I sell at Kmart, it will be to relocate 2000 miles farther west.

Depending on how close you want to be the the mountain, you can be on the couch, cracking open a frosty adult beverage in 45 minutes from WRJ. What's that, 15 minutes more than to K? Can't say much for the night life and restaurant scene (this is in the upper reaches of the White River Valley), but it's 15 mins to South, 20 mins to North, and 25 mins to MRG.
