Sugarbush Suggestions

Gotta agree about Semi-Tough. When I skied there last year I found it as a bit of a challenge, I'd like to go back to give it another shot. The trail next to it, Walt's Way I think, is a green that was ungroomed while we were there that my wife and I really enjoyed skiing together.

I would think the rock will be open if we get 8" or more. (to cover up those "bare spots"!)

Given the rain being received today, and the warm temps this weekend, I'm not sure that even 8" will be enough to re-open the Rock. :angry: :angry: :angry:

As for trail suggestions that were the original point of this thread:

Cruisers - Elbow, Rim Run, Which Way, Cruiser (whodathunkit?) at North
Snowball>Racers Edge, Spring Fling, Murphy's Tree (glade), Sunrise, Birch Run, Jester at South

Steep Bumps - Ripcord, FIS, Steins Run, The Mall, Exterminator (all have been groomed recently, BTW) and Bravo, Black Diamond, and Spillsville. Most of Castlerock.

Simply great runs, sometimes bumpy, sometimes not - Hammerhead, Semi-tough, Tumbler, Brambles (not as much this year - wider at bottom for GMVS) at North

Domino, Twist, Moonshine, Spillsville, Paradise, Upper/Lower Birdland at South

Character-deficient runs ala Okemo but steeper - Ripcord, Organgrinder, Cliffs

Runs to avoid at all costs - Downspout any time after 10AM. It's called Deathspout by locals for a reason. Get to Heaven's Gate or Castlrock by other means. This one is always crowded and scrapy.

Unfortunately we had to close Castlerock today and probably won't spin until we get some more snow.

Also, a couple of corrections from info above....American Flatbread is only open of Fri and Sat, expect at least an hour wait unless you go right at 5:30 but it is worth the wait.

Egans Big World has moved to the intersection of Rt 17 and Rt 100, was always my fav, after all they are my neighbors, but have heard not as good since their move.

The Warren Store is great, as mentioned, for their deli....the breakfast burrito is fantastic. When skiing, stop at Chez Henri's, you can ski right to it, in Sugarbush Village, been here forever, great for lunch.

Gatehouse has a fun trail, good for a quick warm-up, called Sleeper and ignore the Sleeper Chute sign. Lower FIS has a long flat runout...not recommended unless your looking for a good workout. It also goes under the Slide Brook Express and more than a few things have been thrown from the chair onto passing skiers. If I ever find those kids you threw a firecracker at us...I will kill them..... :lol: Paradise and Birch are two of my favs.

Regarding Mt Ellen...things have changed abit. We hired a former Bush manager from Copper Mt, to be GM of Mt Ellen...a new position. We put all the terrain park/superpipe stuff there, this yeay offered both Season Passes and lift tix for Mt Ellen Ellen only, wich has been very successful, so it is dead no more. Having said that it is still not as nearly as busy as South, Boss's main point still holds true.

Almost forgot...there is a pool table in the Sugarbush Inn.
