Area skied:Sugarloaf/USA

Date skied: April 7th, 2007 from 8:30am - 3:30pm.

Surface conditions: packed powder (where groomed) loose powder, untracked.

Weather: sun and clouds, flurries, cold and windy at the summit.

Today was one of the best days of skiing in my lifetime with outragously good snow surfaces.

Warren and I started out the day on a perfectly groomed Tote road and being 15th chair up had first tracks down skiers right. We dropped into Ram Pasture Glade and skied light 2' deep powder that was untracked.

Narrow Gauge was next and Warren skied the groomed part while I skied the silky soft bumps in the Cribworks.

Spillway was not working due to wind, so we both rode up the Bateau T-bar and skied down West Sluice Chute to Winters Way where the wind had blown the powder around and filled in the moguls with powder making for fun turns. We continued down Lower Winters Way to the Whiffletree Quad.

Buckboard was next and it had lots of untracked areas and Broccoli Garden glade was untouched with pole plants making my poles dissapear up to the hand grips.

I promised Greg that I would ski Misery Whip and after passing lots of spectators at the top deciding their fate, I dropped in.

The trail was loaded with loose powder and moguls, which made for heavy work since my tight turns are sub-par, but I still had fun. Warren skied Ramdown and we meet up on Tohaul to ride back up King Pine.

Next was Ripsaw with a pleathora of powder moguls, and Warren had fun despite hesitations about skiing a double diamond trail.

We took King Pine back up to Ramdown/Lombard X-cut to a now operating Spillway chair and skied my favorite trail, Bubblecuffer with snow much like Winters Way.

We had lunch at Bullwinkle's and then skied Glancer and Boomscooter Glade with lots of powder snow.

Binder was next and Warren had fun with the narrow bowl type layout of the trail and we skied this down to Tote Road and into Ram Pasture which still had fresh snow at 2pm.

White Nitro was my last run and Warren looked down it and decided to pass on it while I skied it
making kick turns in soft powder pumps and loose powder, he skied Boomauger and met me on Wedge which had we formed moguls with nice lines.

We ended the day with a lazy and straight shot run down Boardwalk.

Sore and exhausted we now are resting up for a day at Saddleback on sunday.

Purely untracked existed on Winters Way, Broccoli Garden Glade and Moose Alley. We had 3" of new snow overnight so that helped keep things fresh.

Other than that powder existed on trail edges and the cold weather kept the snow packed powder/powder all day everywhere on the mountain.

It's still snowing right now, so we could have more powder, especially at Saddleback.

Friday..........!

Until I fell backwards at 0mph with a successful toe-release(bruisin' the right calf muscle- Ouch, those friggin huge cuffs..Arrgghh!- what a mistake!;-)...the day was nice..but had to hang it up after the buise @~noon. If it wasn't for my large, but toned calf muscles..I don't wanna think of what may have happenned. Earlier, I had a great time on (& off) the trails south of Timberline lift...many were just totally unskied!..as the local pow-hunters of Thursday had obviously used their time working the main trails. Competition Hill was left ungroomed...so nice. Ice & the heat on the leg following...feeling good today...
