CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine -- Officials said four teenage snowboarders have been found alive and well after spending the night in the woods at the Sugarloaf ski area in Maine.

Officials said the group went out of bounds on the back side of the mountain late Sunday afternoon.

Malachi Belluscio, 19, of Keene, was found along with three other teens from Maine were located Monday morning.

The search by the Maine Warden Service and the Sugarloaf ski patrol was hampered by high winds and more than 5 feet of new snow that has fallen since Wednesday.

Heck, I almost had to spend the night at Plattekill after getting buried 15 feet from the trail, it's really no joke out there.
I have ridden some seriously deep pow out west and even I found myself underestimating the conditions.

Sounds like they went out-of-bounds off the back of the Snowfields, which was all kinds of not a good idea. Go look at Sugarloaf on Google Maps' terrain view and you'll see why.
