Took a ride to Wachusett today with my dad... my first time up there with the leaves green in 4 years and his first time period in 4 years. It was chilly on top with a temp of 57 and strong wind (compared to 68 just 15 miles away) and the officer on top was actually wearing a winter coat. The Polar Express was running for a private party and Minuteman was stationary with all chairs attached. It was a bit disheartening driving by all the trails and saying "There were bumps there 2 months ago" or "There was a park there 2 months ago"... even driving down the road section of Roper's Road and saying "I skiied right here 3 months ago". It was even worse that it felt like October but in reality it's June and opening day is still 5 months away. There were "No Hiking" signs at the top of every ski trail and where ever the road crossed them. The views on top were spectacular with great visibilities and easy to view to Boston, Greylock, etc. Other than that, not much to report, just nice to be back for a few minutes.
