Day 7 of the season for me
After battling a head cold all week I woke up this morning finally feeling good enough to ski. I originally wanted to use liftopia to ski cheap this weekend someplace else but without knowing if I would feel well enough, I held off purchasing any tickets in advance. I decided then to use my $10 off coupon from the ski expo (Its last day before it expired) and go to Sunapee thinking they would probably have they best conditions in day trip range based on their snowmaking and grooming.
Got a late start and did not arrive to the mountain until 9:45 and got stuck parking in lot 3. But the place never seemed very crowded. The express quad had a 5 minute line all day, but the rest of the lifts were 1-2 minutes tops. Trails initially were decent and got scraped off as the day went on. The sides tended to have a lot of loose snow because off Sunapees border walls that keeps the snow from going into the woods. It got colder and windier as the day went on. I quit at 3:45 after doing 20 runs.
The place could definitely use some fresh snow just like every other place right now, but overall I give Sunapee a lot of credit for the terrain they have open now. Basically everything except the glades and williamson was open. When there is little to no fresh snow Sunapee is one of the best places to go. Overall it was a good diversion from the usual routine at Wachusett were I have been stuck going to my last 3 times out, and probably again next weekend
