Date(s) Skied: Sat. Dec 3, 2005
Resort or Ski Area:Sunapee
Conditions:MG/FG/LG Snowmaking in progress on Lower Blastoff
Trip Report:After this week's warmth and rain,, we drove to Sunapee for some skiing. The guns were going on the Sunbowl and on Bonanza. We met one of our buddies from that area, who decided to tele, and headed up. The runs had lost some snow and what was left had thawed and refrozen. Snowmaking was in progress on Lower Blastoff--it was kinda tough to navigate down there. The wind also was cold and was blowing snow off the trails. Upper Skyway was nice with soft snow on the edges, but the middle and lower portions were being scraped clean by the wind. Chipmunk still had some deathcookies, but honestly there was lots of soft snow to be found.
We skied from 10 to 4pm and my buddy really liked the place. And who wouldn't? The last two weekends we've met a lot of locals and the employees have been really friendly and helpful. I was not expecting this based on what some have said of the typical clientele. Example: went to the ski shop and the manager helped my buddy with googles and gave him a great discount. Another example: I take my hat off to tele instructor Corey McGraff (he gave me permission to use his name here  )who we rode up the lift with. Not only did he give some pointers to my buddy on telemarking, he spent an hour or so HELPING him by taking some runs and offering some advice  Corey, again, I'd buy you a  but you told me you were underage. Well, good luck with college and the applications!
So we all had another great day...lots of friendly folks, decent skiing, and great views.
