Date Skied: 11/30/07
Resort or Ski Area: Sunday River
Conditions: Machine-made packed powder
Trip Report: My first time skiing at Sunday River. We arrived Barker Lodge at 9:45 and we were on the Sunday River Express by 10:15. Made repeated runs down Jungle Road/Sunday Punch. Also a few runs down Ecstasy.
Took Lazy River over to Tourist Trap and also made a few runs over on South Ridge, following some of the Gould Academy kids on their training runs.
It was a little windy up top, but not too bad. We stopped for lunch and afterwards the wind had subsided. It had turned into a super day.
Run of the day for me was Risky Business from Spruce Peak. I wish I had hit it when my legs were fresh. That is a fun trail.
We finished the day with a run down Southpaw (Barker). A nice narrow trail that we should have hit sooner. It was mostly scraped off by the end of the day.
They ran snow guns on many of the Barker trails all day. With the weather conditions such as they are, Sunday River is going to be in good shape for quite a while.
The only disappoinment was the trail report showed Locke Mountain as open, but Lift #4 never spun.
Sorry, no pictures. Had the camera with me, but as it was our first day out we never felt like stopping.
