Live TR from the Bottom of the Barrel:

Good night. Got started around 8 pm. Bumps are great. Ripperline set up on N'E. Temptor bumps were good for day one. No real lines yet, but smooth snow. Should be good for the am crew. Skied with Brian and met SteveinCT for a few runs.

Just got home from Sundown.. skied 5 - 9 with Jake and met up with Brian for a bunch of runs. Saw Greg and skied near him for about 30 seconds but Jake wasn't up for bumping much so we didn't hang.

Skied Canyon Run, Nor Easter, Temptor and Gunny throughout the night. Really liked the bumps on upper NE.. a good line was forming and i've decided that low angle, lame, seeded bumps are just right for me :)

Temptor shaping up nicely..add some snow and traffic and it will be in great shape in no time.

run of night for me was Gunny shortly after grooming.. Jake's pick was Nor Easter right after the rope was lifted from grooming.

great night, happy to have day 2 under my belt. Good to see familiar faces.

Great night! Excellent snow conditions, good company, and a really good seed job. I got going sometime around 6. On my third Temptor run I met up with Gary and skied with him and Jake for a while. I mostly did Temptor, but hit up Gunny twice and Canyon while Nor'easter was closed for grooming. Everything was skiing good, I was happily surprised by Gunny, which had very few slick spots. Nor'easter to Temptor bumps were skiing really well. The line on Nor'easter was effing sweet from the get go, I was really trying to let em rip on there. It started to get kinda deep by the end of the night, but was still sweet. There wasn't much of a line on the lower section, but the snow was really good and the seed was nice. They just need to be skied in more. If we had a larger crew tonight I'm sure we could have cut in some nice lines. The snow was really workable.

Skied right up until close and then enjoyed an adult beverage or two, which was a nice way to top off a good night.

Nice to ski with Gary and Jake again, and Greg too. Also nice to meet SteveinCT. I hope you can meet up with us on some more nights this year.

That was most excellent, and just my speed!

Because I know that some people just love it when we give each other props, but you were looking good in there. That one run where you made an effort to stand tall was very noticeable...probably because you're like 7 feet tall, but anyway. Lots of good short snappy turns on Upper N'E and I saw you working on hand position on Ex.

pulled up to the top of the temptor headwall on one run and there was a guy there.. he was looking down the hilll and then turned back to me and B and said:

guy - "these moguls weren't here the other day"
me - "yeah, they just put them in"
guy - "this isn't what i was looking for"
me - "oops"

and then we skied off.. i looked back, he handled them fine.

Didn't they put the "Mogul" sign out yet?

very impressed by sundown's commitment to bumps. seems like a surprisingly high percentage of terrain bumped for an area of that size. other upper downdraft (which are very gnarly), k has no bumps on machine snow and while there's a bunch of nat trails w/bumps, at this point they're more of the p-tex variety. kudos all around ...

Excellent conditions last night and it was great to meet up with Greg and Brian! All of the boilerplate and death cookies from Monday night was gone so it was a really good night to continue to work on getting my hips to move a little faster. In the bumps, they were not fast enough. I ran the bumps four times and the one time I did them with Brian and Greg, they got to witness a real hackjob and my first digger of the season. Yes, they have great technique in the bumps, but I am not sure if they can keep up with my form in doing a headplant into the last mogul of the field. It must have been pretty to watch. ;-)

All in all -- Great night of skiing with a bonus  at the end!
