After a white knuckle drive on the way north I was booted up by 6:30. It was hard to tell how much they picked up. By the time I was skiing there was crud every where. I started off on the Gotamas for a goof. My skis felt like I had skins on. I think it was a combination of tacky snow and the Gotamas needing a tune after sitting in the basement during the off-season. After one run I swapped them out for my Wateas. Much better. Unfortunately on my second lift ride I dropped my gloves on Stinger. So I had to burn a run to retrieve them. Finally I got to hit Temptor. The NE and Temptor bumps are just weird with the exception of the section after the kicker. The Ex bumps were fun as hell and skied real nice. 2knees arrived around 8. I did some laps with him until 9:30 and headed home. The conditions last night were great. Even better than what we got in VT last week. Surprisingly the roads on the drive home were much better.

I got in an hour before the race, and an hour after. In the late afternoon, everything was skiing well. We had about 5" at that point. Did 4 N'E>Temptor>Ex runs and 2 Gunny runs. Found nice powder along the woods lines on each gunny run. Race wrapped up pretty quick due ot the weather and low turn-out. I started lapping N'E>Temptor>Ex non-stop, no breaks hoping to catch up to whoever was left. Finally met up with 2knees for a few runs. Still good skiing, but a lot of scrape on Temptor. We capped the night off with some beers with Brian. Sundown ended up with probably about 6". I have closer to 9 or 10" at home. Must have been under a band.

Damn banding just missed...

Don't get me wrong, the surface last night was great. Skier's left on the lower part of NE had big piles of crud. The Temptor bumps had some scratchy backsides. But the Ex bumps skied real nice. In the Ex bumps I started hitting the bump more directly and avoiding some of the hard pack troughs. Just wish I could translate that to a steeper run.

I made it out for around 2 hours, maybe a little less, before my shift started. I had a lot of fun skiing on the Wateas. I hit Gunny, Stinger, NE, Temptor, and even Canyon for a run. Everywhere had good conditions, with only a little bit of scratch on Temptor. I even took a little excursion into some uncharted territories which was okay, but resulted in a scrapes and gouges. I think the best snow I found was on the skier's right of the lower section of NE. The bumps on EX sure are fun to just blast through. The bumps on Temptor are funky, but I don't mind, I have fun trying to link together a decent run despite the funk.

Having to go into work while the storm was still pouring it on hard was pretty tortuous. Spending the rest of the night trudging through the snow, and shoveling it instead of skiing it didn't help, but I'm glad I was able to get when I did. Apres with Greg and Pat was a nice cap to the night though.

Glad the conditions were for you guys too. I also took my Goats out last night and found I couldn't get going fast enough to get any turns in, they were fun blasting straight down thru the cud though!
