My only pair of skis are bump skis (until tomorrow.) At Killington I'm a hack bumper; Saturday was the first time I felt like I could keep up with the good skiers, but just barely. Actually finished up the day with a few of them on O.L.

Summer camp at Blackcomb. 6 days of mogul coaching.

what kind of binding are you going to use on the wateas?

Barons. Coming tomorrow!

Figure I'll end up mostly in-bounds on 'em, but I get flexibility for pretty much only a cost hit. Christmas week, MLK weekend, and President's Day weekend seem to be good candidates for BC stuff next year (or any year, for that matter,) plus before and after lift-served. Basically, days I have off from work and can't use my pass to Killington.

Nice! My Barons should be in tomorrow and the Gotamas on Wednesday. If the shop doesn't have my Nordicas fixed by Wednesday I'm going to pressure them to mount the Gotamas that day.

Use them well!

The mogul skiing clits are falling by the wayside and becoming turn earners....

Lame. I suspect 2knees and powhunter will stick with me. I'm on the fence about Brian. ;)

Falling by the wayside?????? Hardly my friend. When its time to a traverse or hike for some fresh we will be leaving you in the dust.

Yeah yeah. I see the appeal, I guess, but for now I'm happy with lift served and just hopping on the MTB when that's done.

To each his own. Life is more interesting that way. I thought about a bump set-up instead of a powder/AT setup. Although it would have been cheaper I was craving something for deep snow. Plus I do like my Nordicas in the bumps; 162 length, 78 underfoot, and fun getting to and from the bumps.

I might not be that far from a powder board myself, but it will be a fixed heel rig.

how wide are the dynas? they don't fall into the powder board category?

79mm. "Mid-fat" I guess. I just have a pair of Rossi Scratch wide brake bindings that have been sitting on a shelf for some time...

Been skiing bumps longer than you have, if I remember correctly. I ski enough lift served, this will just be something else to do. Knowing me, I might not ever use them uphill. Except for Juggernaut, which I plan to knock off my list with the use of skins. I might even do it backwards. Don't know that there's that much difference.

Bumper first, turn earner and park rat second and third.

Huh?
I thought you just started being a devotee a couple years ago? Not just skiing bumps when they happen to be there, but searching them out and skiing the good lines until your legs fall off. I became a bump skier (mentality, not skill) in February '98.

Unless an AT setup falls in my lap for free then you don't have to worry about me getting a setup anytime soon, I have other stuff that I need to spend that money on. I do want to get into touring at some point, but right now I have a hard enough time getting in enough lift served skiing to keep myself satisfied.

At least I'm not talking about getting a pair of 'carvers' so that I can tear up the race course like someone else I know...

There's much less shame in becoming an turn earner than there is in becoming a gate runner.

Did I say that? Trust me, they would be a "nice to have" more than a "need to have"...

I rode a pair of freshly tuned GS skis yesterday through the NASTAR course. My time improved by 4 seconds over my untuned bump skis, enough for a bronze. But still, I suck at carving/racing so I don't think anyone is looking for me to join their team...

i don't know... 2nd time doing nastar, using borrowed skis and you snag bronze.. you've been skiing bumps for years and get beat by a girl, maybe it is time to switch ;-)
