Good luck finding a rental car company that'll let you take a Subie across state borders . . . Now that those things have GPS, you can't just give them the wink and the nod anymore.
As for me, I'm going to hit Stowe in the East, and Summit County out west.
I take rental cars across state borders all the time. I rent in NYC and drive to VT to ski. I've also rented in NYC and driven to NJ and PA. I don't remember ever reading or being told anything saying I couldn't drive the car across state lines. I had GPS at least once, the other times not -- well, of course there might be a GPS unit I don't know of tracking me, but I at least once had the GPS unit I could actually use.

Probably 2 or 3 days at Bromley ($25 weekday lift tickets, relatives live 1/2 hour away)
.
I actually called a couple of SLC rental car outlets and it's not an issue. In fact, for a bunch more $$$. I can fly into SLC rent a car and if I end my trip in Bozeman MT...drop my car off there and fly from Bozeman to SLC then back to Philly... I talked to my friend Tom about it and I can stay at his place..unfortunately his extra bedroom is now occupied by an infant...but I can always crash on the couch. I want to check out the expansion at Moonlight Basin and ski some of my Bridger Bowl favorites. Also hit up some local watering holes and maybe get a cowboy sized Steak..yeee hah..
Why aren't you flying to Lehigh? Philly is a mobscene
