Certainly no Killington expert here. Don't think I ever claimed to be. It's just funny that someone who hasn't even skied prior to 2003 or whenever it was is longing for Killington's yesteryear so much. I mean didn't you have a Killington tomb stone as your avatar for a while? I just find it all to be a bit humorous, that's all...

Wow, in the spirit of GSS, may he rest in peace. I've got a groupie. Now I find that humorous, that's all...

is the beast gonna bring back a pre 2008 bmmc?

That would IMHO be a multi-year project to build it back up to what it USED to be. While I truly hope that K is serious about bringing back the Beast of The East, its going to take some time to really convince some of the long time K folks who felt really put off by the last 2 years of operation plans that the Beast is Back. An "old school" BMMC would be a start, but what really would help is a return to a FULL springtime weekend events schedule that goes well into May. While BMMC was truly the big event on the k springtime schedule, they also had multiple other fun weekend events that basically contiued for a solid month + AFTER BMMC (Spring Loaded pro/AM, Sunshine Daydream weekend, Triathalon, May 1st fun slalom and event he June 1st fun slalom)

The Beast of the East is not about what you say. It's about what you do.

On that basis, it's way too early for Killington to proclaim it is recapturing the Beast of the East title.

Last year, we saw a disaster of a decision made on the Friday before their big 50th birthday weekend, a dismal BMMC, unimpressive snowmaking amounts, and a closing on a Saturday with plenty of snow on Superstar because "It was the start of a new pay period"

I don't know, this just doesn't sound to me like the people who are going to deliver beastly change this year. As of now, the BMMC is scheduled March 27th, and Sunshine Daydream and Pond Skimming have been combined on April 17th. There is nothing on the event calendar beyond April 17th. That is not very beastly. Somebody had better get the word out to POWDR that skiing in Vermont goes well past April 17th, especially at "The Beast Of The East".

Being the Beast is more than a tag line. As Geoff has put it so often, it is about being and doing all the superlatives. The hints at an early opening are encouraging. But at this point, they need to show us.

I reservedly voted yes on this with my wallet for 2 x k50 tix. If the beast is really back there's more where that came from.

"For the past decade, you’ve seen a softer side of Killington in how we present ourselves" WHAT??

I'm sure all the local businesses have appreciated the kinder, gentler way in which you have softly helped them go under by cutting their cliental in half!

Just words by some marketing geek. The Beast may be back in a few seasons, after it SHOWS what it can do. A long way to go to undo the self imposed image you have crafted for yourself!

No it wouldn't.

It would take 5 minutes to bring it back. Just put out the word that people can do whatever they want, ala 2006 and earlier. The party would return in a heartbeat.

Yes, all Unlimited, Blackout and Midweek passes, 15 percent off F&B at all on-mountian restaurants, except alcohol.

So, any chance you'll respond to Mister Moose's excellent points, or are you just going to chime in with marketing garbage as you please?

"The Beast of the East is not about what you say. It's about what you do."

Correct. And we will be judged on what we do. Not what I say in an online forum.

I like it. Seriously.

Let's see you back that up, but the words hint at a promising attitude.
