It will be interesting to see what Talisker does with The Canyons. Obviously with there past development record there will be lots of really big houses/townhomes down the road, but what I'm really interested to see is what they do lift wise/on hill skier/boarder wise.

My guess is that this year with the closing where it is, lots of newly painted lifts (which is needed on many of the lifts there), some actual regular grooming of core intermediate runs on many of the mountains(something that's been lacking the last couple of years there), and then likely a morale boost from the employees.

Next summer, I'd bet that the folks at Dopplymayr/CTEC will be involved in a project or two there(My vote would be for the long propsed 2nd Gondola out of the base area uptowards either the Tombstone or Dreamscape areas(dpends on who you talk to about where it will end up). Talisker has alot of $$, a corporate head who used to run Vail, and The Canyons still has a ton of potential, this could be interesting to watch over the next few years.

And with this, ASC is officially no more.

The base area made a terrible impression on me when I visited in 2007, construction cranes everywhere, a total mess. That said I loved skiing there the terrain was so spread out and lots of cool places to find and get lost in.
