I want a better season than last year...remember how shitty it was last year the first 1/3 of the season...some places had to close down due to warmth..including Killington the week after Thanksgiving..I want to be skiing on at least 30 trails at Okemo Thanksgiving weekend. Although I'm a northern Vermont Snob..Okemo has the goods for early season due to excellent snowmaking..

That's why I said without the warm-ups....if we hadn't had that cycle of a few cold days, then a string of 70 degree ones, everyone would have been fully open for Christmas. I was skiing boot deep machine-made powder at Hunter on December 10th....a week later, they were having trouble staying open with the temps.

I'll join the 2000-2001 crowd. While 2007 was great from February on, 00-01 just kept going nonstop from October to May. I rememeber it snowing here in southern MA by Columbus Day and at least 4 or 5 times by Halloween. 2002-2003 was also very good and 2004-2005 was decent. I'll take the combo of October-December 2005 and February-May 2007. Throw in January 2004 to seperate the boys from the men as well. :D

I'd settle for consistent cold but not extreme cold, no thaw, and normal snow..

For the most part we get enough snow, it's the rain and warmth that we need to lose.

There's no such thing as enough snow...I want to see a couple huge blizzards and crazy upslope orographic lifting snowfalls in northern Vermont where they predict an inch of snow and it snows 20 inchs..big fat fluffy flakes...

Anyone remember 86/87? There was big rain storm in April that washed a lot of roads out and like 6 feet of snow from Sugarloaf and they were still wide open. They had these big posts in the line for gondi (when it was still running full length) that I used to lean on the tops of. After the rain I had to jump up to touch the top.

enough? no way...not until its waist deep all the time...or we have to start digging out the lift towers. Baker usually gets "enough" snow...yeah, 800 inches annually would be enough.

I don't think anyone here would have a problem with that much snow but the first post in the thread said ..
"Try to keep your responses somewhat realistic..." 800 inches" ???

Below Avg temps from Oct to December
A Halloween or Columbus day Nor'easter Dump (40+") just to get things rolling
20" of snowfall weekly
Avg Temps from Dec to February with No January Thaw.
and receding, below avg temps from March to May.
Having the slides at whiteface open from January until April
Waist deep in the downhill sections of Slidebrook
perhaps a May-Day Blizzard to Ice the cake.
