Just wanted to say that with the cooler temps rollin in here the past day or so, I am really starting to get psyched to ski. It doesn't help that I read the TGR forums every day and have started coming back here, and we have been talking about buying our passes soon. I went into the attic and looked at my skis last night, I think they were calling out to me. Is that weird? Pretty soon I will start going through the ski stuff getting it organized, looking for a new pair of pants, generally looking around for good buys on ski stuff....and it's still only August.

Sure, mountain biking helps, and I have been doing WAY more striper fishing this season than ever before, and that's been fun, but now skiing is starting to creep it's way back into my consciousness.

Man, I hope it really snows this season. I mean REALLY snows, and not just at Jay. Don't get me wrong, I want a lot of snow at Jay for when we head for the "Jay Cloud". (By the way if you have not been to lodgetheory.com or jaypeakvideo.com, you should check 'em out). I mean really good snow at Loon/Waterville too 'cause we buy the Threedom Pass and last season wasn't exactly stellar.

OK, I think I got enough off my chest for a bit. If anyone finds any good deals on grey cargo type waterproof/breathable men's size large pants, let me know!

I was just REreading reviews of CT ski areas and Catamount. Despite the horrible things they said about Woodbury, I still might go for a chance to ski in November.... I think there is something wrong with me.

I was getting psyched for ski season, but then this nice fall weather came. Now I want fall. Fall is awesome in everyway. If it wasn't for skiing I would like fall way more than winter. I want a solid 2 months of fall before winter comes.

And Devo you know that it doesn't snow at Loon or Waterville... even in good years.

Don't say that! Actually last season it seemed like Loon got a little better snow than most of the other ski areas around.

Actually last year when I was at Cannon it rained/sleeted the whole day and loon got like 8 inches, do not ask me how. So that brought there season total to like 15.

It just seemed like everytime we skied somewhere else and then came back to Loon, there was more snow at Loon. Besides Jay Peak of course.

Past few years I dreaded the summer. This year got into biking again and now I dread the thought it will soon end for me, with work and the days getting shorter, just not enough time to ride. But, on the bright side, ski season will start before you know it. Life is good! :daffy:

I am counting the days!!! with great anticipation!

You really dont have a problem. I have my jacket, thermal, pants, skis, goggles, helmet, boots, poles, and hat all in the same spot as they would be during the winter, in my room. And I have already bought new skis, 2 new pairs of goggles, and a pair of bindings.

These cold AM temps are getting to me as well.

1) I'm not quite ready for summer to be over. It's so short of a season...but it does seem to have an intense 2 or 3 weeks.

2) I'm with RC...if I wasn't a skier, I think Fall would be my favorite season. (stick season would be last *smirk*).

3) I too had ski thoughts last week as I grabbed a blanket out of the closet. I was talking to my boss about skiing, someone overheard and said they were getting ready to buy passes....I one-up-ed them when I told them I had my skis in the car (boss wanted to heft my volkls...thought his Atomic carvers were heavy and I wanted to assure him that his thought of going Volkl SS would NOT alleviate that issue).

4) So the solar cover is on the pool to retain whats left of the warmth. 55F this morning. Had the heat on in the truck yesterday AM for the first 20 minutes. As soon as the sunball got up, temps went up 10F.

I've managed to keep my mind off skiing so far. Taking up sailing, boat goes in the water Monday. Playing around with the Vette, traveling. Might even go into the ATV business with a friend from Sweden. He's doing well with Chinese ATV's and wants to expand to the U.S. Of course when the snow falls I'll be hooked again.

Rarely does a day or two go by without me at least thinking about skiing so this late summer psychness (word? ;) ) is nothing new. Had my first ski dream in a while last week.

Had my first skiing-related dream of the season last night- word came down that a mountain (Snowmass in the dream) was blowing out the mice and expected to open within a few weeks.

How is this for being psyched?

Within 5 minutes of hearing that our offer on a house in Southbury, CT was accepted, I went a little crazy on Mapquest. Hopefully I will be able to hit all of these this season.

Ski Sundown - 57 min
Mohawk - 59 min
Catamount - 1 hr 38 min
Blanford - 2 hr
Jiminy - 2 hr 21 min
Hunter - 2 hr 23 min
Mt Snow - 2 hr 58 min
K-Mart - 3 hr. 59 min
