What are people seeing for this storm? Does not look like a game changer too me? It also looks like it’s starting too late to add much for Sunday operations.
Looks like 5-8" for the catskills. Haven't looked at S.Vt.

I'm seeing potential of 10"-12" around londonderry if the storm wiggles a bit north. Unless it's super light, that opens most of the east side.

should know by early Sunday whether it is delivering or not

But I don't know if red is ready to spin.

Easier just to stick with Green operationally

I've seen predictions of anywhere from 4-12+ for So VT. Still lots of variables in play. Today's model runs have tended to favor a slighter further North track which would bring the heavier bands up out of the Berkshires and get So VT in play, Also seems like the duration of the storm will be from late evening Saturday until around dark Sunday in So VT.

The good thing is it seems like there's more storms for the Tues/Wednesday as well as Friday/Saturday time frame next week. And if somehow Mother Nature decides to keep them all frozen and not liquid events, by MLK Weekend a bunch fo terrain could very well be in play (y)🤞

Let’s hope so! That said 10-12” on dirt this weekend is not opening anything that hasn’t had snow made on it.

The challenge with opening natural terrain on this storm is 1) no base 2) lighter than average snow 3) highly likely <8” which is not enough. Yes there is a non-zero probability of 10”+, but it is low right now.

Next weeks storm needs some help from the -NAO.

What?? A foot on dirt on the east side opens quite a bit. I know you’ve been in the area for 30+ years but I have to disagree on that.
I agree it should open quite a bit. The new patrol director has been a lot less liberal with dropping ropes.

I suppose it depends on snow density, but a foot of non-compacted light snow you are breaking through to the bottom almost every turn. Let’s hope it’s a decision they have to make.

It'll be a light fluffy snow up in VT at elevation. Rain/snow line looks to be down on the Long Island Sound.

"Lifts: Pfister's crew has been here working on the Quad. Newly found is that one of the towers need a sheave assembly change and working with engineer on that. New wiring for drive system is being connected. Looking to complete and test this month."

JFC, you can’t make this shit up. Is this a different tower than the one that has had all the problems ? I don’t understand how this could go unnoticed for 5 years.

Also in alpine update today........

Jan 5th at 5pm Update: Projected totals for the snow event on Sunday are starting to move higher (6-12″). We will be making snow up top all day Saturday and Saturday night. Lots of caveats here, and if this, then that. But we could look at lower angle East Side terrain off Green to add for Sunday morning if ski patrol okays, and possibly up higher by the afternoon off summit Red on East Side. It all depends on where the heavy snow banding hits and that is hard to predict in advance. Just no base to work with after these washouts. Stay tuned.

Yeah thats tough to understand from a Lay persons perspective. I think it just goes to show how far away they really are from finishing this thing. Or maybe it's related to the tower alignment issue from several weeks ago?

Anyone sensing the "well that storm didn't quite amount to what we were hoping for...." update in the next few days... 🙄🙄
