Yeah with a 3:30 close on an early season Sunday wouldn’t make sense to try to start black. That doesn’t happen in 15 minutes.

Makes me feel a little bit better about going to Stratton. Didn’t want to burn a magic Indy day quite yet. Stratton with gondola and snow bowl was pretty damn liney tho. Still scored some great tree skiing.

An hour and a half too long to leave people without summit access, especially considering it was less than a year ago that they finally completed their 5 year ordeal to install a working backup lift.

How long would that take ? I assume they run an early morning test every day, just in case they need to switch ?

They place was empty. More than half the chairs were going up empty they didn't need the quad. It was probably close to 2:30 by they time they got everyone off. It probably didn't make sense to start another lift for a handful of people for an hr

It stopped for a while. Eventually they got it going and got everyone off but never loaded again.

Looks great
Anyone who got a look at the west side, what's the situation w/ the damage from the 2023 flooding? Any improvement with the ruts on Lower Wizard?

I didn't think they were that bad on lower wizard, but the water bars on hocus pocus seemed pretty big.

Decent weekend w/ two groomed options off Green and snowgun skiing off Black. Looks like typical early season east side snowmaking offerings plus some natural runs for New Years. Solid base across the mountain from the snow early in the month, now how much of Magic's snowmaking system will we see before a real storm comes through?

Plus how is the snowmaking pond refill rate after "operation drain the pond" they did a great job with social media wise a week or so ago?

The reality is that for many the moderating temps the next week or so will both be a boost for snowmaking water refill flow rates AND getting more of the masses out on the hill via comfortable temps during this very crucial BIG Holiday week!

Doubt water an issue. Post LMC and Wand/Showoff being covered, and before the 2” “refill” storm, they still had water but we’re looking to use Thompson Brook post storm if they needed too (which I highly doubt was necessary). The pond has a solid refill flow rate, but I haven’t seen it this week.

They will have Carpet, Medium and Trick off summit, and LMC, Vertigo, Wand, ShowOff, Hocus (likely) and learning area with snowmaking base for Thursday. Finally proving what all their snowmaking investments can do! Pretty much a 180 from last year - well any year really.

How did they do last night? Any chance of a wider opening on au natural Thursday? The Monday night storm sitting undisturbed but for skinners is tempting…

Only someone who’s been up on the hill can answer that. I would guess the west side is out due to lack of snow on runout.

Whether TZ or Goniff can open who knows. If I had to guess it would be yes/no.
