at Mt Snow. anyone skied this? I've never gone in, usually go to Mt Snow alone. But it looks wild, even steeper then ripcord.

I have actually skied down to where it supposedly is and could not see tracks or any marks of it being a glade. To me, there is always a feeling that a glade is a glade, for this one, I didn't get that vibe. However, Second Thoughts is a fun trail.

I found this pic online. Apparently there's a sign for it:

It's not that bad. About ten to twelve hop turns, a couple of branches in your face and your done. It's actually easier than ripcord because there is less ice.

True, it is easier than RIPCORD when there is no ice. In fact, RIPCORD isn't all that difficult either, when there is actually SNOW on it. Unfortunately, that isn't too often. The worst time is when the ice is covered by a couple of inches of snow and can't be seen. I just don't find it worth risking injury most times.

I like the plunge unfortunately it really needs a bunch of natural to be good. It generally gets some overblown mm off of ripcord allowing the left hand side to be skied but can be pretty bony.

They do blow alot of snow onto ripcord but that is it's natural contour and not a huge whale.

I probably shouldn't show you guys this because then everyone will want to be in on this trail. But a lot of the deep snow skiing in this video is from that trail. Just happened to hit it on a fantastic day last year. Waist deep snow in these trees, and we hit a few of the bigger rocks in there, a couple 10-15 footers.

Enjoy -- 027 Productions and the Bentley SSC present

IMHO the best tree run at Snow is "Sap Tapper" fun, and usually un-crowded because of a somewhat obscure entrance off of Ego Alley Lift (But that being said I wonder if that will be the case this season?)

only one i've gone in is the trials all the way on the (skiers) left side of the north face. It seemed pretty friggin large as i hit it a few times and never did see the boundary.

thanks for sharing the video salida.

Greg in all honesty, bear trap was not nearly as good as the plunge that day. The plunge being north facing and in the trees, it had a least 2.5 ft of freshies on top of a nice solid base. Almost to much snow for the pitch (35-40) of that trail even on fat skis. Bear trap had 6 or so inches and it was ontop of an icier layer... Plus bear trap was packed and we were the only people besides one patroller on the plunge that day...

Sorry to kill your buzz but I didnt see one 10-15 footer in the video. Plus that glade doesnt look all that interesting/difficult. I ride and I would have rather been on that actual trail that you kept repeating footage of.

Buzz not killed. I didn't say we taped the rocks, and in all honesty didn't get the best footie of the "chutes" next to ripcord. That being said, you'd rather snowboard in moguls than ride in a glade... to each his own...

I was refering to what I would rather do in the footage you presented, not my personal preference as a whole. That glade didnt look to be awe inspiring, while that trial looked to be pretty fun. I usually am stuck riding with a bunch of skiers, so I take the bumps pretty well. They reall have helped my riding even, notable my edge to edge transition as well as balance.

That being said, Id take a sick glade over a sick bump run anyday.

Snow

It's been over a decade since I skied Mt. Snow, but I remember a large whale at the top of Ripcord the last day I was there one spring. I went up with a friend that was a great athelete and skier. He skied it in seconds leaving me at the top gasping. Afterwards he chided me for hesitating. I remember skiing the trail when it wasn't so tough so I figure it was a whale. They do blow snow on it, don't they? Actually, though, their reps at the Boston Ski show are the best looking gals in the ski industry. I can tie this all in, too. The Plunge and the Stairs are the two famed steeps at Telluride on the town side of the ski area. My friend had injured himself (ankle) when skiing the Plunge. He was one of the original founders of the ski area which opened in '72. After four operations, he never did recover from the injury, moved out of Colorado and gave up skiing altogether due to the pain. I think his last downhill run was with me that day. He couldn't even take living in the Northeast and seeing snow so he now lives in the Carolinas. When did they name this Mt. Snow area, the Plunge?

I watched the vid. It was kind of fun. The truth would be that taking camera shots from below always flattens a ski run from the viewers point of view.
