Here is PA & NJ (Outdoor areas currently selling lift tickets to the general public) for those that ski at these:

It would be cool to know the top ones in each state and then could use that to influence the final 50 again

Could share these with PASAR, NY Ski Blog, & DC Ski to get a bigger sample size

The top 10 ranked resorts from 11 years ago looks pretty accurate through today.

I know polls are popular but I have no use for them. Everybody is unique in the wants and needs about an area. Also if you are a fan boy of a particular resort, no mater how good or bad, you going to vote. That top ten is fine but like anyone, I have my opinions. Poll on !

I have a hard time ranking ski areas too. It's like trying to rank your children by how much you love them. ;)
Pretty much any ski area over 2000' vertical (and some less) can be very fun to ski in decent conditions and if you have the time to learn their nuances and hidden secrets. I wrote a piece about some of my favorite places earlier this season and it was more of a list rather than ranking, and simply places where I personally had good times:

Aright here is a test poll for Vermont if anyone is interested in taking it. Might be including more ski areas that necessary lol

Do we consider any current... operational difficulties... in the poll rankings?
Of course we do!

If a mountain stops operating, it would automatically falls to the bottom.

If a mountain only has no top to bottom run in Christmas when neighboring mountains have 2, it will be reflected in the poll ranking too.

I know polls are popular but I have no use for them.
1) Polls are very useful for marketers! Hence the frequent polls we see all over the place.

2) Funny enough, some people feel they need to be in the "in crowd". So it matter to them their favorite mountains are ranked high. they contribute to the polls' "popularity" (number of voters).

3) Those who don't have a favorite, naturally will be influenced by the ranking in choosing where to go.

I know what I like. So I don't usually look at polls. And I prefer my favorites don't rank too high so not too many in 3), who haven't decide, would not be drawn to it. So I don't often partake in polls.

But if I were just starting skiing (in cat 3) ), I'd find the poll interesting enough.

Last but not least, polls are more a reflection of the poll participants demographic than the product being polled. This clearly shows in the AZ poll results.

Yeah I get the perspective that it is hard to rank, different areas being good for a different things and different people, everywhere has something special...

Kind of interesting or if nothing else entertaining to see what everyone thinks though

could continue to set up a poll for each region and then do a final but idk if the sample size would end up being very large, could just repeat the same list of 50 from earlier in this thread and see what happens.

I think just doing the 50 over again in a new post would be best. We can swap in/out a few places, like Black Maine I think should be added. Maybe remove Holiday Valley since it really is an outlier location wise.
