Comcast doesn't suck as much as I thought it sucks before, because I do have Universal Sports Channel, way up on 429. I wonder how long I have had it... what the heck have I been doing? Spending too much time on the computer, no doubt...

Still no skiing channel - but Universal Sports channel seems to have a lot of skiing content right now.

Looks good. Hard to find ski content on TV. I Tivo almost anything that's skiing related. Unfortunately, Directv doesn't carry NBCUniversal that is carrying all World Cup events. Hope Ski Channel lasts. I'll be tuning in.

I have Comcast, and I have Universal, but they still suck. I'm OK with saying it anyhow.

It doesn't appear that I get it. That's a bummer. I was hoping to have a 5th channel that I can actually enjoy out of the 900 channels of crap on Comcast.

Ski Channel to Launch on Verizon FiOS, Time Warner, Cox, and DirecTV

November 19, 2008

The Ski Channel will launch on Christmas Day on Verizon FiOS TV, Time Warner Cable, Cox Cable, and DirecTV. The cable television network will reach more than 15 million digital U.S. households. Through a deal with Mountain Sports Media, The Ski Channel will broadcast ski films from the Warren Miller Entertainment library, as well as its television series "Thrills and Spills."

Verizon FiOS, Time Warner, Cox, DirecTV Offer Ski Channel to 15 Million Households

The Ski Channel will soon join Verizon FiOS TV's video-on-demand (VOD) service, which offers more than 11,000 titles each month - 8,500 of which are free of charge. Verizon FiOS TV is currently available to more than 8.2 million homes in 14 states. Through the agreement with DIRECTV, The Ski Channel will be available on the satellite TV leader's DIRECTV on Demand service. Customers with DIRECTV Plus HD DVR or R22 DVR receivers have access to the VOD service at no additional charge.

Ski Channel to Include Ski Films, "Thrills and Spills," and Original Programming

The Ski Channel currently owns broadcast rights to over 250 hours of content and is actively acquiring hundreds more in addition to its original programming. "It has been an incredible month for us," said Steve Bellamy, chairman and CEO of The Ski Channel. "We have added a ton of incredible programming, we will be announcing more distribution shortly, and we are launching on Christmas Day."

If I didn't move out of a Cablevision area last year I would have changed to FIOS just for the NFL channel which Cablevision refuses to get. A ski channel would have clinched it. Service Electric, my current cable provider seems to have a lot of obscure channels (plus NFL) so hopefully they'll get it.

Just asked wife to turn to channel 429 on our comcast box, automatically went to channel 435 and Gang bang 4 was on, oops wrong channel.

Anyone watching yet. If you have Cox, go to channel 1 and select FreeZone, then scroll to the 3rd page and select Sports and then Ski Channel. Took me a while to find it as it wasn't in the regular channel line up.
