Sorry - I have to disagree with you - I have been watching the Sopranos since the 2nd season, and I can't understand why in the last couple of seasons they insist on focusing on some of the newer characters and ignore the older ones. Who cares if fat Vito is a closet homosexual? I never liked the whole cousin Tony B story (although I always like Steve Buscemi). They spent the entire first episode focusing on one the extras who hung around the construction site last season - can anyone explain this to me? Fer Chrissakes, Johnny Sack (one of the best new characters) is in jail and they never even showed his face. Where were Paulie Walnuts or Syl? You never see those guys anymore. Where was Meadow? Dr. Melfi was barely in this episode. Who cares if some nobody wants to quit "the life" and hangs himself? I didn't get it.

I hope tomorrow night's episode is better.......sorry......I feel strongly about the Sopranos.....had to vent.......

I thought it was good too. Kinda supprised they had Jr. shoot Tony, then at the end make it look like Tony might die, when everyone knows that can't happen in the first show.

Deadwood's my favorite HBO show, it's 3rd season starts in June.

Last night's episode was terrific! So if Tony hadn't become a mob boss he would have been just another sales manager going to trade shows and having travel hassles. Maybe Tony really is just a regular guy and his circumstances have him by the balls. He'll be talking to Dr. Melfi about this shortly, that's for sure.

Prediction: Christopher and Meadow get married before the end of the show. She becomes a full-fledged member of the the family and Tony's personal lawyer.

Also - the coming attractions make it look like Paulie and Syl take over daily control and make a mess of it. If you like Phil and his gang, I think you'll be seeing more of them soon.

When Tony was in his “alternate reality” I found this episode very interesting, when the focus was on what his family and gang where doing I found it slow.

They're cousins, how's that going to happen?

OK - I thought I knew my Sopranos history - I thought Chris was not a blood relative, but it turns out he is actually Carmela's nephew rather than Tony's. I knew Chris's father was a member of Johnny Boy Soprano's crew who got popped and Tony "adopted" Chris as his "nephew". But I didn't think The Moltisantis and Sopranos were actually related, so I thought it's could happen......so why were Meadow and Chris holding hands while sleeping at the hospital? I still think there's something happening there......

Actually, Chris is Carmela's first cousin. Which make him and Meadow first cousins once removed. Michael Imperioli is taking quite a bit of writing credits this season, btw. It should be good. Him and David Chase connect on the deep and dark aspects of plotline.

I thought the "death house" with cousin Tony B (Steve Buscemi) as the doorman was pretty cool. They had it going great with Syl trying to run things, Paulie knocking off the Columbian money-laundering place, etc, etc., but then they screwed it all up with Syl going in the hospital and Tony continuing to be on his "sales trip out of town". Thankfully Tony woke up and it looks like he will be getting better soon, because listening to Carmela cry is excruciating. Edie Falco is a great actress, but perhaps she's too good at bawling her eyes out!

I read a review that said this season was going to unfold very slowly and because they also already shot the 8 episodes for next year there's no rush, so David Chase is going to draw it out very deliberately.

Yeah - and the idea that Tony and Paulie would be hanging out at the hospital watching a boxing match with some rappers and the random "physicist/philosopher-next-door" is ridiculous. And what's with the fundamentalist preacher? C'mon........Isn't there another way to convey that Tony will undergo some change based on living thru a coma? This really is a soap opera now.....somebody better get whacked soon......

I think Paulie is a good candidate to get whacked. He was slow getting Carmellia Tony’s share of the Columbian heist, he was kinda bad mouthing both of them while Tony was in a comma, he tuned up that kid after Tony promised his mother nothing would happen to him, and he’s ready to snap cause of Aunt Ma.

Did Vito whack himself? No, I mean did he kill himself, I know he was looking to get whacked in his "other" club  .
We'll find out tonight!

I wouldn't be surprised if he did. I was convinced that the scene after the club would be Vito wacking those two guys in the parking lot. He may be buying some time to kill those two if they didn't tell anyone yet. We'll see how it plays out tonight. After Carmela's warning to Tony about Vito, it looks like the end is near for him either way. Good episode, It reminded me of a first season episode.

Another boring episode. At least Paulie didn't cry this week. Can somebody explain to me why all the weird, go-nowhere plots? I still don't know why they spent the entire first episode on the minor character who hung himself.......where's Junior? How about more Johnny Sack in jail? What's A.J. up to? Who is Janice screwing (or screwing over) these days? What are the feds doing? What a waste so far.......
