To those already switching out their winter tires already...I'm envious. Living on a steep dirt road in Fayston I target Memorial Day. Currently the ruts are so bad more than a few neighbors are parking at the bottom and walking up. The Airbnbers are kind of fun to watch. Hap's towing is doing a bang up job...and making bank. A Suburban Propane truck needed to be winched out over the weekend. Have they closed Roxbury Gap yet?
I'm currently on a work trip to Seattle, explaining mud season to the uninitiated elicits some of the funniest looks.

The gap was bad a few weeks ago but it was not that bad last week I was told. We went Bethel Gap instead last Sunday.

i run snow tires on a compact SUV but still don't bother with roxbury gap.

I'm leaving the snows on til easter. but I also barely drive except for going up to new england, so I'm not running them daily at 50 degrees

jealous of people enjoying powder today and yesterday.

I heard there were some pretty big ruts. I don't risk it once the mud comes and just take Bethel Mtn.
I haven't seen anything announced but would think this would be the last weekend for the Gatehouse side. There's still snow but not a lot of people skiing esp mid week.

It was announced in the latest blog update that this weekend is the targeted closing for GH.

We're back(!) with a spring edition of State of the Mountain. Since we last gave a big ops update the mountain has gone through it's full spring metamorphosis, albeit while unfortunately skipping right over our typical snowy March. After an historically snowy two months in January and February...

Big fun today. Corn on GH/NL. Birch will be lucky to get through weekend. Looks like a big section of the trail was missed by snowmaking. Still fun, as was Waterfall/Hotshot. Domino Chute/Domino had winter snow, and Jestercross was a hoot. Ripcord powder stayed dry; under the lift was fun, as was Paradise Ext./LP. Ony disappointment was Snowball/Lower SB, but it will be nice once groomed. Found fresh snow at the bottom of SF below Spring Road at 3:30.

I hit paradise too late in the day and found many a rock. Steins was goodish (deep deep snow but barely covered ice bumps), but would have been spectacular if they had winched it before this storm.

Domino was the run of the day.

That looks like about where a friend and I came to grief under similar conditions, a bunch of years ago. We kept the rubber side down, but did crack the radiator and have to be flatbedded home to MA.

Good grief how does a rollover like that even happen on that road? I mean, unless you're trying to drive it like a rally course (something I may or may not have done in a previous lifetime) and lose control (not something I did). But most ppl don't do those shenanigans with expensive Rangr Rovers

Pretty fun again today. Grooming freshened up Birch/Hot Shot, and Sleeper was excellent in the soft bumps on the headwall. Domino again awesome, and aside from the usual rock band early in the upper pitch, Paradise was remarkably fun. Corn all over on Ripcord, Jester, SB/SF. Have to say Spring Fling at 3:30 was delightful.

Agreed- crazy how weekends have been so bad...

Also: I forgot to mention that on Wednesday they were turning Slidebrook. Very slowly. I know there is no chance of running it this year, but signs of life are good. Had a maintenance snowmobile there yesterday but I didn't see the lift run.

Maybe required "signs of life" maintenance? Showing it off for a potential buyer? LOL

I'm pretty sure they need to do line work before the summer to not disrupt the bears. Looking at the camera the work chair is on so that is probably what they are doing.

Since they obviously did not figure out the issue this winter, they may be running the work box out to each tower for further investigation or actual work.
