Dear Sugarbush Community,
This coming weekend is your last chance to ski and ride the 2022-2023 season at Sugarbush. This will mark the latest closing day in 20 years with lifts spinning a total of 162 days. Some of that can be attributed to the incredible spring we had here at Sugarbush. From the end of Presidents’ Week through March, we received over six feet of snow, giving us the depths to ensure we’d be making turns on our final day, this Sunday, May 7th. In fact, this March’s 62” were the most we’d seen since the 2013-14 season when we had 66” of March snow.

Of course, it didn’t start particularly snowy, and we dealt with the weather rollercoaster we’ve become accustomed to in the last few seasons. That’s why we continue to invest heavily in our snowmaking infrastructure. The capital improvements we made this past summer to our snowmaking pond, Pushover/Easy Rider area, and the Summit area of Mt. Ellen paid off, and by Christmas Week we had 75% of our terrain open. Our snowmaking team worked ceaselessly through February, even setting a record for gallons pumped at Lincoln Peak.

This was also a year that saw us continue to build upon our event and activity offerings. We expanded recurring events with more après music, weekly dance parties, street entertainers, and scavenger hunts. We also added several new events including our first ever Pride Weekend, dog sledding, comedy shows, and MoonBike demos. The season’s largest event was our second annual Spring Fling. This was an overwhelming success with sunshine and above freezing temps bringing out the masses to both pond skimming and our concert featuring The Grift, Kat Wright, and DJ Logic.

With the winter season soon-to-be officially in the books, our sights are now set on next season, as well as getting ready for summer operations. We’re already deep in planning out new capital projects that will further improve your experience here. We have finished cutting the new Reverse Traverse trail and will be grading and adding snowmaking to it this summer. We will also be undertaking further improvements to the Mt. Ellen Summit Snowmaking area. Additionally, we are well into the planning phase for two new workforce housing projects, something that has been in short supply in the Mad River Valley for a long time, and we believe these projects will support the resort’s employee housing needs for many years to come. Other capital projects in the planning phase include a couple of lift replacements.

And while summer is right around the corner with mountain activities beginning June 24thand one of our busiest wedding seasons ever, we do have one last weekend of skiing and riding. Temps are in the mid-50s when we reopen on Friday and then it’s sunshine and 60s for Saturday and Sunday. We’ve got a Kentucky Derby viewing party on the giant video wall in Rumble’s on Saturday and a Ski-and-Tee offer on both Saturday and Sunday. Take a couple turns down Stein’s and then head to the golf course where all current and 2023/24 Ikon and Sugarbush passholders plus those who have redeemed a lift ticket or Quad Pack for May 5th through 7th can golf for just $30 including cart on May 6th and 7th.

On behalf of the entire team at Sugarbush Resort, thank you for an incredible season. As always, we couldn’t do this without you. I hope to see many of you this summer, but if not, there’s always next winter to look forward to.

Thanks,
John Hammond

Glad you got yours. Not sure what happened but dog1 never transferred the ticket to me. All is good as I made other plans once I didn’t get the ticket
Mine transfered but cannot get it to work, get an error at checkout. Should have redeemed during the day while there was someone there. Guess I will head out in the AM and call on the way.

Fun day, good change of pace after a bunch of superstar days. Thanks for the voucher one dog; a kind lady called me back around 8 AM and said they had an issue with online redemptions but they would honor in person.

anyone have info on when the bike trails on state land will open?

Mountain bike trails in the valley are still quite wet. They'll need at least a week or two, especially the ones behind American Flatbread. I bet Blueberry Lake will be ready by this weekend after a sunny warm week.
