Looking forward to some Mt Ellen turns starting tomorrow but no Northridge is a bummer. I wonder how much capital they will put into it with a replacement in the plans.

Does NRX have an actual issue? Or is this just a choice to not open it yet? I remember last year NRX didn't open in the beginning either...not sure we ever had an explanation for that.

We will be up Monday no matter what the conditions.

We flirted with the idea of cancelling our condo and taking a flyer to SLC (Done this last minute before) but we are committed to Sugarbush. We have word we use all too often when skiing in the east: iiwii, Pronounced iiwee, usually said like a rasta: iiwii mon. It's and acronym for It Is What It Is

They had been making in between and during the three snow events on Elbow and Rim. Should be excellent cover

Aside from the Xmas week flights being crazy, the snow is hardly worth the trip right now. The west is hurtin and in a high pressure situation.

I’m flirting with canceling New England and staying around nyc to do degenerate hippie jamband shit. I really don’t want to do that.

From the looks of things it should be open in the coming days. Not unusual for it not to be running on a weekday in this day and age.

Yeah the year we punted on VT and went to SLC was on the heels of a 3+' dump. We got to ski fresh tracks at Alta, Solitude, Snowbird and Pow Mow as stuff wes just getting opened for the season and ropes were dropping every day.

Lots of hippie jam band stuff happening just down the street from us at the Cap we will not be around for. That's OK there's always that kind of stuff 'round here.

But when we did fly out it was last minute and it was on Christmas and we used miles. It was easy. We flew home on NYE. It seemed like there was a lot more availability if willing to travel on the holidays. Not sure if that's still the case.

yea, unfortunately X-mas day is firmly devoted to partner and her visiting mother. and my long-standing detente with partner is to be home by 8 PM on NYE so we can spend the night together, even if that usually just means dinner at home and watching dumb tv new years coverage. shout out to anderson and andy. lol.

so flying 12/25 and 1/1 is a no go. and 12/26-12/31 is the opposite of cheap. and also ends up losing 2 ski days to travel.

I am sure some of you were part of the Pre-Covid Era when Sugarbush hosted ski clinics and programs that featured pro skiers like John Egan, Chris Parkinson, Darian Boyle and Dean Decus. That was an era when Sugarbush and MRG were considered as one if the best eastern proving grounds for many freestyle skiers and a lauching point for some of the best big mountain skiers and compeditors. I had the pleasure of skiing and riding bikes with Dean on a few occasions and also ran into him in Chamonix one year. He is a great guy with lots of stories. He is sponsered by Black Crows and a while back I stumbled upon this video. I think it is pretty cool.

The doggy swimming through the cranberry bog was cool. That's a good dog.

Skied LP this Christmas morning with the fam. Very nice conditions; more like April than December but coverage excellent for the most part. I would be concerned about the end of the week with the warm temps though. Reverse Traverse is a great addition with the changes. Murphy's a bit thin but everything else was really fun (and Murphy's was still funn, just boney). Off to XMas lunch with family. Hope everyone has a nice holiday!

Have plans to drive up to BTV on Thursday and ski at Sugarbush on Friday & Saturday with the family. If it was just me, there wouldn't even be a question. Be honest, what do you think the conditions will be? I get that there's not going to be new snow and I'm cool with sticking to the groomers. What I'm nervous about is the potential for warm wet weather on Thursday and then it get cold overnight and I wake up to ski Friday on a sheet of ice across the entire mountain. 5.5 hours each direction in the car for marginal skiing is one thing, for miserable, dangerous skiing, that's a whole other story.
