Yeah, it boggles the mind. Cut and paste, reporter person...
Would appreciate if the reporter could post some insightful information regarding the weather too. Palisades does a great job of this through their winter weather blog. Doesn’t need to be as in depth, but some information on upcoming storm patterns would go a long way in my opinion.

The new reaort slogan should be

“BEER MORE expensive here” & “Hike it if you can”They most definitely can say that they executed those business plans well. Has anyone addressed why CR was not operatong during the weeks of Stellar snowpack?

“ Affordable Ski Programs for Families” Unfortunately Seasonal ski programs for families are now 3700 dollars with a drastically reduced schedule from tears back. How much do they pay Coaches? Can’t we use those beer profits and exorbitant seasonal kids programs to get the lifts running?

What "weeks" of stellar snow-pack have we had? There was bare ground coming through around my condo not long before Christmas. At most I'd say we had a week of decent (not stellar) snow-pack up to this point from mid-mountain and lower.

Skinning up North has been good since around the first week of December with last VG day around 12/23. Sorry you missed it - MRG has been skiing well through that period. MRG was at one point 100 percent open . CR skied well when hiking - why not have it open with lifts. Mall- Twist- Steins were. The excuse of saving it for hiking makes no sense when you look at what mother nature does in a warm spell. Just saying the CR chair needs to open when the terrain is skiable. The hiking thing started when the old CR chair broke and saving it for hikers is a great line for accountants only. Prior owners - before summit - would take pride opening the CR lift whenever the terrain could be skied and was what made the mountain great. It would operate and close down depending on conditions- but on days past CR was always open when the terrain could be skied- even if it only for one or two days.

Hey everyone this probably has some significant weight as why the lifts have more issues than other years. I saw JP about two weeks ago- he was on a snow mobile working while attached to oxygen. The below was emailed to me from a friend at the golf course. JP is a great guy and I hope you can be generous and show what it means to be part of the mad river community..

“Some of you may have already heard, but long time Sugarbush employee, John Parsons (JP) , is facing a long medical battle. He is in need of a double lung transplant and is currently hospitalized at Mass General where he awaits word from the national transplant team.

Most everyone at the golf course knows JP either from his duties as head of lift operations at the mountain or his previous duties as a member of the golf staff. And, of course, from his golfing, a 5-time Club Champion! JP remains determined to make it through this ordeal and hopes to compete again.

A gofundme page has been established to help JP and Siobhan through this journey. If you can help in any way, it will be greatly appreciated.”

Thank you for sharing this. John is a great guy. We just donated and will spread the word to others who may not have heard. Maybe Sugarbush can donate a portion of their beer profits to the cause. Just thinking out loud.

Donations are pouring in Almost 20k - we may complain on this forum but that is because we all love skiing or living here. I can live anywhere and choose the valley because it is the best place to be!

John's a great guy...very impressive how quickly people are donating. Shows how great the community is (both locals and us regular visitors). I think it has more than doubled already since earlier when I donated.

As was discussed earlier upthread, if the lift ran early season instead of hiking only, it'd be ripped to the base within a couple of hours. Hiking limits overall skier traffic and provides a better base in the long run.

If you don’t ski lifts then maybe you should stick to the 1000’s of acres of back country.
Only talking about CR as I like the side hike and lack of traffic. It's a nice walk over and delivers one run an hour if you keep it up.

Nice job on the fireworks last night! Snow on the ground this morning is a welcome shift back to winter.
