Hey Win I greatly value your insider perspective but IMO the new HG off load is too steep and much too narrow for four people to safely navigate. After getting taken down by the kid next to me who skied over my skis, I watched the ramp for a few minutes and saw a few other crashes and many near misses (more than normal). Including one young girl who was so scared she refused to get off the chair and it went all the way around the bullwheel with her alone in the chair, facing out over the steep trail, sobbing hysterically.
Cue Warren Miller schtick

Steep is fine….narrow sucks. Especially with everyone being a bit bigger round tha waist nowadays. At least on detachables you can push out at different times, effectively widening the exit ramp.

This is how it looks when only 2 people are offloading, imagine trying to squeeze 2 more in there. And no room for error on skier’s right.

That ramp is crazy stupid! Bet that those stairs get added to the ramp and a new set gets built. They also need a solid barrier instead of a post and rail fence.

I do not think that the ramp or offload on HG is an issue. With the exception to Jester the terrain is mostly expert and IMO if you have issues on getting off the lift maybe another lift may be a good option. With exception to the ribbon cutting first ride, the chair is a very positive addition. The entrance to Ripcord is narrow and probably will be a deterrent to the expert terrain it accesses. At most a sign on the bottom noting that the terrain is for advanced skiers may be wise.

That is narrow, stairs to the right is also interesting. That’s a traffic accident waiting to happen. One would think they could have found a better solution then that

Steep narrow ramps are horrible on a snowboard. If it’s like the ramp at the top of Ellen it will be fine but if it’s like the one at Bolton there’ll be allot of spills

If it makes it through this upcoming week or so with lots of days of the few times a year or so "low ability" crowds and no ramp catastrophes, then no harm, no foul... Otherwise buy some lumber and build a couple foot high wall...

Allow me to rephrase this for you: "With the exception of Sugarbush's signature run, the terrain is mostly expert, and IMO if you have issues on getting off the lift maybe you shouldn't be able to enjoy Sugarbush's only top to bottom cruiser with its lovely twists and turns."

The pictures look really bad.

Ramp seemed fine to me. Don’t recall seeing those cones as in the picture. Didn’t see any mishaps on my 8-10 trips. Anyway, huge improvement getting over to jester.

conditions were really good today. Middle earth in top shape. Tomorrow promises to be even better. Best holiday week in years.

And folks question why at sometimes a lift goes on hold for maintenance issues and the general public thinks it's B.S.....

KS when you're wearing the Vail coat at Park City Resort, if you have a radio on you with multiple channel capability, and the optional(s) channels that your bosses aren't on can listen into the ops channel, if you haven't ever listened (and can) do so one day...you'd probably be amazed at both how many situations for lift ops attention happens, and how quickly both they respond and also the complex machinery that is a modern high-speed lift, can reset itself once one of its NUMEROUS sensors may trigger a warning!

I have not been on the lift yet, so I can’t accurately judge if there is an issue. Based on The picture posted above, it suggests there may be an issue. The ramp coming off VH is steep and that seems to work ok.

As far as your comment above, yes more than 50% of the terrain is most difficult,… however I am guessing close to 50% of the traffic on a busy weekend is skiing Jester.
