Lyme Timber, while a pretty prolific landholder, invests in timberland to manage. Its not a divy up and develop corp, so not necessarily the worst possible steward.

Probably still best for MRG to raise the cash.

It seems that Lyme Timber is fairly open to public access to their properties. They are 100% employee owned, seem to be good stewards when it comes to forest management and conservation of properties. It would be better than some of the Canadian companies that bought Ward lumber tracts a few decades ago, cut every tree over 6 to 8" and then sold the land to be subdivided into $$$ house lots.
I agree though, it would be best if MRG bought it and returned it to the rest of the original tract. Betsy had that land logged though out the years as it's in current use which requires logging to be performed according to a forest management plan, which must be developed and approved by a forester.

Check the subject line of Tremblant's email from earlier today; it's not a French language alternate spelling of RESERVE! Digging into it, their pass includes First Tracks / ski valet / VIP parking. I didn't check the cost; nor is it important to me. But, no doubt, it's their response to Alterra's marketing strategy

It’s Alterra’s idea that was dropped on some of its areas.

Well Sugarbush can't spell Riemergasse right in the snow report 9 times out of 10, so I will call it even...
Lucy, our former snow reporter, has been heroically and involuntarily entombed in the footings of the new Easy Up at Mt. Ellen! Our new snow reporter has been vetted to spell Rimergasse with an i before e. Thank you for your helpful and constructive criticism A_Zone!

Be sure to check out our new Sugarbush RESERVE Pass for exclusive access to The Fifty 8 lounge! A ski-in-ski-out and financially curated place to grab a bite, sip on a specialty cocktail, and look up at the action on the mountain in your own affluent space!

In other news....at SB's neighbor to the north.....

This land is owned by Betsy Pratt's family. I visited Betsy once on a sales call and asked if she owned that land. She said yes and I suggested (in jest) that we create a snowboard-only mountain. She looked at me with a twinkle in her eye and said, "let's do it". It was Betsy who had banned snowboards at MRG.

Rain event tonight though not too much. Trails were pretty ratty yesterday, I thought. Trying again today.

My wife continues to hike MRG (at 64) and went up last night. Said it's really good up there.

Are there any photos of the Fifty 8 Lounge, and does ski in ski out you don't even need to take you skis off to grab a snake & beverage.

I’ll take some pictures next time I’m in there. After some runs on Sunday it was great to head in there, take my boots off and smoke a cigar.

Could that land be developed, or are there use restrictions? Could it be split whereas MRG buys the entire parcel, and decides what it needs as a "buffer" then turn around and sell the rest to a developer.
While we are on the subject of MRG, have they used the new snowmaking to the new mid station yet? I don't recall hearing anything last year either.
