The "Sugarbush Thread"

Was at Ellen today. Just before noon took northway over to inverness as I saw a couple going down it while booting up in the lot. Get over there... ropes up for inverness and brambles for GMX racing. There was no racing. It was ungroomed, there were no gates, there was no t-bar running. Ride down walt's go into lodge to speak with guest 'services' rep. "Oh its closed for racing". But there are no gates or anything? "Oh well GMX owns it now." Any chance you can get a manager that I can speak with? Person gets on phone for a bit, hangs up "I'm sorry but my manager is off today and there is no one else".

Left at 1:45. Still no gates, no anything. This is complete BS. Yes, there is other stuff to do too, which I did. But I've had some epic runs down un/lightly tracked Inverness and Brambles on powder days. Bottom line - management of this mountain just does not give a rats. I had considered enduring the likely crowd at south until I saw Bravo down. At least they did get GMX and Northway running by the time I headed over.

There is never any management around when needed. It is laughable. I really do wonder what their org chart looks like.

Person you spoke to probably called Denver. The response was probably something like "Did they pay for their pass already? Yes. Great! Now go sell them some overpriced chicken tenders and beer to drown their sorrows about not being able to ski. Our F&B top line needs to grow."

Brambles and B -Woods always ( almost) closed off - I always wondered that too.

I have about another 4" in driveway, plowed around 3PM yesterday so guess depends what your start/end times are. Usually it seems to be whatever makes the snow report look best!

Mad River upped their overnight total to 2-4. Both resorts are giving a similar 2 day total of about a foot.

Love the early GMX on a powder day.
Tumbler, HHead, Lower FIS.
Rinse and repeat.
Blower pow on the first two, windpacked but big fun and knee deep on much of skier's left of Lower FIS.

And the two lifts I needed worked!

Ok, so they reported 8" yesterday morning. Claiming 5-6 overnight - bringing them to.. 12" in the last 48 hours?

They can't even add correctly. At least they cleared off the mid-mountain snow stake properly!

Slide Brook done for the day. Why? Guess we'll never know!

No "State of the Mountain" since Mid-January. I really, really do not like the people running this mountain. The patrollers, lifties and mechanics I have huge respect for.

Maybe wind? It was breezy at ME; don't know if the same over that long stretch. At least they could have claimed it and I would have believed it. I hope it runs over the vacation.
