I wonder what's broken this time?
HG now loading. Hope there are no hiker/skier "interactions" on JesterSnow reporter forgetting about Heavens Gate Traverse? Obviously a holdover from earlier when HG was not running but still.

*Summit, Slide Brook & Bravo are on windhold* *Northridge is delayed for maintenance* *Hiking for Heaven's Gate terrain is open*
Wild weather and great snow today. Was a really good one from start to finish, which for me was from 6:30am to 3:30pm with a beer break at 10:30 to let the lines cool down. The Lynx was skiing this afternoon!HG now loading. Hope there are no hiker/skier "interactions" on Jester
Did that happen today? I would hope they'd give you a ticket, but my guess is a voucher for a hot chocolate, which is a $10 value! So you get stuck on a chairlift for 1.5 hrs......should you get compensated??
Been a problem lift since it was moved from GMX to make room for The Slug. What's wrong with Northridge?
Fix it! Goddamnit!

Speaking of Mt. Ellen: I don't recall why Sunny D was replaced. Yes it was a very old lift, but I don't ever remember it having issues. Maybe just to hard to get parts for an old lift? And yes, it goes from a double to a quad, but it rarely has a full line
Anyone who reads this forum knows that NRX is a zombie lift. It is part Poma/part Doppelmeyer. It's been so long I can't remember which part is which, but at this point, it is irrelevant to this discussion. Plus it was stuck by lightning a few years back- that did not help things.Been a problem lift since it was moved from GMX to make room for The Slug.
Alterra isn't doing ANY new lifts at ANY of its mountains this year. The new Deer Valley lift this summer is being paid for by Extell Development Company.Anyone who reads this forum knows that NRX is a zombie lift. It is part Poma/part Doppelmeyer. NRX is a key lift at North/Mt Ellen. Any competent management would recognize this, and prioritize it for replacement. Unfortunately, since the Alterra acquisition, we no longer have that at SB. North/Mt Ellen has always been the red headed stepchild of the mountain, so this is not likely to be a priority anytime soon.
I'll get off my soapbox for now, and say that we had a nice day on Thursday riding Slidebrook over after starting the day at Mt Ellen. It was fun to lap North Lynx for a few and head up to HG for some runs before we returned. I do not understand how anyone would take the bus over the SB lift. We had to do it last year one weekend day when literally everything at ME was on wind hold or broken around 9-9:30. We took the bus back and forth, and it was not pleasant. SB lift is a much better experience. I'm glad it is running this season.
