Wow, the 4th of July is upon is, and we're down to about 140 days until Black Friday :daffy:

So whatcha got going on this weekend?

Thursday - Work from home, go to the gym
Friday - Go to the town pool, maybe play some miniature golf on the boardwark at night
Saturday - My dad is coming up from FL. My brother and I are going to have a Orion-off...to settle who can produce the best set of baby back ribs. I picked up a case of Long Trail Blackbeary for this. Watch the fireworks from my backyard.
Sunday - Chill, maybe head back to the pool, maybe go for a bike ride

Vermont...bringing the ATV, Mt. Bikes are already there. Going to hit NH for a beer run...so I may have to get some fireworks too. Rumor has it, our neighbors across the street will be up and they usually have a big bash for the 4th.

We may check out this BBQ joint, which is only 15 or so minutes up the road in Putney: http://www.curtisbbqvt.com/

Get through the workday today (Thursday) then start 11 days of vacation!!! Woo Hoo!! Some  will be consumed tonight if I can ever get out of the office!

Friday - Play some golf (if my course is even open after what looks to be a 2nd straight day of multiple t-storms/torrential downpours hitting it today :( ) then probably grill some meat and drink some

Saturday - Wife's B-day - take the kids to watch her run in a 5 mile race, then neighborhood party  then watch some fireworks and drink some more

Sunday - Goto the in-laws place on Cape Cod for a family b-day party for my wife, and drink more

Monday - see Friday

Tuesday - see Friday

Wednesday - Get on a plane about 8AM and fly with the kids t o Tampa to see my parents for a few days (heck, I figured if I can't find warm air here in CT that I should go some where to find it) - then through the following weekend take my plan for Friday and also insert "goto beach" :)

My dad lives about 30 mins from Tampa...near Clearwarter Beach. I'd highly recommend going there!8)

My parents place is just over an hour south in Port Charlotte. Clearwater is a blast, no doubt (hands down, saw the HOTTEST Hooters hostest in my life there while at a continuing education course in that neck of the woods a few years back ;) ). Beach wise, we'll usually just goto either Sanibel Island, or sit out on the beach at Boca Grande and watch the tarpoon fisherman.

First time I went down there, I got to enjoy a few cold ones while watching my dad's neighbor washing her car in a thong bikini.

Great to visit, couldn't live there though.

Celebrating Independence Day by giving up cigarettes, which probably means my other focus for the weekend will be trying not to kill anyone who so much as breathes the wrong way around me.

If monsoon season decides to end, I'll probably play some tennis with J.

Nothing special just another day in Paradise along the St Lawrence :D

Altho we are meeting with a restoration contractor who is in the final 2 months of a complete restoration of a gorgeous 1880 vintage Victorian on the shore of the river in a wonderful location . This redo is spectacular and we've had our eye on this place for several years but it needed to be gutted and redone . well the RIGHT contractor ( has completed several successful redo's, nice high end materials and features ) is doing it

I called the guy tonite to say we are interested WHEN it;s donet'll be a fun thing to explore over the next couple months and will take some time butHe and I agree it could eliminate any realtors from getting in the way and could be a win /win

What i would like to propose / explore with him WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT is the potential cutting a deal that would swop our current place (a very nice and well kept slightly larger Dutch Colonial and some $$ )for this place . Don't want to go their yet -- but this guy loves projects updating eye appealing older homes and enjoys re-working them into spectacular redos

GREAT IDEA !! You won't regret it !! The Queen and i were 2 pack /day smokers .We quit in 1974 .I can't tell you how much better we began to feel after the first month. The money saved over that period of time is enormous BUT the quality of life benefit fars outweighs that .

Stay strong and you will REAP HUGE REWARDS

Thanks for the encouragement Root and Warp.

Root, I've seen people post similar stats before. What website is that from?

Quitnet. www.quitnet.com

There are some great tools and resources on there to help you "keep the quit".

The stats are mind blowing.

apparently I had visited that site. I went to sign up and it said deadheadskier was already taken. While there are plenty of deadhead's who ski, I'm pretty certain I'm the only deadheadskier on the intraweb.

Got my date loaded and ready to go. I'm even pissed off about not smoking and I haven't even started yet.

It will pass though. It's time. I'm tired of being a junky.

Here's my experience of quitting...

The first two weeks really suck. You have to re-learn how to do things with out cigarettes.
The road ahead of you seems like a long steep climb.

Now, looking back, I realize that the road wasn't that tough after all.

I hope that helps you out somehow.

at what point did the thought of having a cigarette become unappealing?
