As a skier, I hope it goes through. Also think it would be good for the surrounding area and economy.

But, if I lived in close proximity it might be a different opinion.

Skied there for the first time ever this year and thought they ran a fine ski area. From what I've heard, the sale of Sunapee a few years ago helped the ski area and also let the state of NH take better care of Cannon. Though their Sunbowl quad is horrendously slow.

Looking forward to next season as I have my weekday pass for S-O-S...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but part of the complication is that the State still OWNS the mountain (State Park) and LEASES it to the Muellers.

The State owns the mountain and all the hardware fastened to it....The Muellers are in thier first 20-year lease agreement...with a renewable 20-year lease thereafter...

The Governor is on record that the proposal is not in the State's best interest to expand the additional 175-acres...

Thanks for clarification, Charlie! Hey, we're doing the CROTCHED MOUNTAIN AZ challenge, so how about throwing some questions in there?

Mount Sunapee Threatening To Sue State Over Expansion Plan

The Concord Monitor online is reporting that the Operators of New Hampshire's Mount Sunapee ski resort are threatening to go to court to force Gov. John Lynch to bring their expansion plan to the Executive Council for consideration.

The New Hampshire Union Leader reports an attorney for the operators told Attorney General Kelly Ayotte in a letter that the governor and council are obligated to consider the expansion proposal.

I find this interesting, I wonder if there is a clause about revoking the agreement if the Leaseholder sues the Lessor?
