Hunter seems like it's supposed to be the mountain that you're not supposed to like, but the terrain delivers and always seems to kick my ass.

I know many people loathe Killington, but I periodically find myself there (or wanting to go there) despite not caring for the trail layout (i.e. traversing) much.

Except for the past few years, I seemed to ski Butternut quite a bit even though I know there's a lack of pitch. I kept telling myself the good snowmaking makes up for it. Now I'd just hit Sundown instead for the quick day trips.

I went to Loon a lot for years, mostly for the East Basin trails and the seeded bumps.

I've always skied Jiminy a few times a year despite the lack of bumps. I'm not usually disappointed as the high speed six often provides a high vert day.

Snow, actually. Several lifts going to the same place, lots of blue groomers on the main face that are essentially the same trail, tons of gapers, lousy lodges, generally high skier density. But I can be there in under an hour, know it well, they do a good job snowmaking, the closest decent sized mt.

Killington I guess. There are things I like about it as well as things I dislike about it. Given the choice I'd almost always head north. But the extra convenience seems to cause me to end up there sometimes. Of course, in the past, late season I'd happily head there.

Killington...I hate the direction it's been going in (and continues to go in), don't really like most of the people there on weekends, and it isn't all that great anymore as far as snowmaking goes, and the infrastructure is for the most part, outdated.

Even with all that, I keep going back... It gets good snow, is the closest large ski area with good terrain, has some great trails (All of South Ridge, Snowdon, The Canyon), very good marked and unmarked tree runs and, the crowds are non-existent once you get off of the "supertrails."

The way the lifts are set-up means there's always something with no line, and you can get from one side to the other in one lift ride. Also, once you understand the trail system, which while it's impossible to figure out if you've never been there before, it allows you to get around the mountain very easily, without much traversing..

Killington- The place has good snow and everything, but at times I feel it is just two big, and hard to get around to where I want to go. But the deals they offer for Ski and stay are awesome!

Jimney- I like the mountain especially the night time selection, but unless you stop at one of the lifts part way up the mountain it all funnels back to the same lift. Easy to get around but cant get into a quiet area such as the west side at Hunter. But other reasons make me spend the most time their that far outway the neggatives.

If you subscribe to the opposite of love isn't hate it is indifference, there are plenty of ski areas that I am indifferent about. If I never ski them agian, oh well, my passions weren't stirred compared to other places.

Shawnee Peak (Pleasant Mtn)

Bretton Woods

Waterville Valley

Tenney

Loon

Okemo

Bromley (This might bother some people)

Breckenridge

June Mountain

Keystone

Park City

The Canyons

This winter it will probably be Shawnee Peak. I'll probably do a half dozen or so Sunday afternoon's there simply because it's close and affordable, even though the terrain does nothing for me.
