Killington, College Ski Week, usually 1st or 2nd week of Jan, mid 1980s, and amazingly almost all of Killington is open and the conditions are crazy good midseason powder and packed powder.

Overheard from a table of Steelers Fans (their outerwear gave us a big hint), " This place is ok, but it's no Seven Springs; they don't even have bowling here."

We all heard it and howled with laughter. It still makes me laugh.

That is totally emabarrasing as both a Steelers fan and someone who learned to ski at 7 Springs. The only thing that place has going for it is it's proximity to Pittsburgh, and Lake Effect Snow. Oh and accoridng to those jag-offs the bowling alley, which does actually exist.

Not heard at a ski area, but still funny: I was getting my hair cut in the Spring and the hair dresser asked me what my weekend plans were, and I said "Mt. Washington still has some snow, so I might hike for a few final ski runs of the season". She replied "Is that the mountain with all of the president's faces?"

The answer to that is: YES!!!

A foreign friend once said this to me while flailing around during a powder day at SR: "How can they let people ski in these conditions? This is unacceptable. In my country, they groom this stuff first before we let people on this. This is so dangerous and uncivilized!"

"you know, you have to be an expert to ride this lift, there are no easy trails down" said to me by the lift attendant at Crystal Mountain after he looked me head to toe as i waited in line for the High Campbell lift. he didn't' say it to anyone else.
