Trip Report: So with the state of emergency over the blizzard that never happened yesterday, I decided to take my chances and drive out to Wachusett at 1pm after I was released from work. Because people were scared off due to the "Blizzard" I had the entire mountain to myself. In fact, due to the high winds, they canceled the racing for the night, and closed down the bar upstairs! Being that it was such light volume, I skied from 3ish to about 6ish... taking laps down connifer, smith walton, 10th mountain, and challenger. The wind though go so bad, that it was tough to get any speed going. all in all a good afternoon/evening on the snow. It felt good to do a Wachusett Wednesday ... though why on earth were they grooming out the freshies when it was snowing last night? :flame: :-o

They always groom the crap out of everything. Understandable if they were to get closer to a foot because the runout at the bottom is so flat a lot of people would get stuck but very frustrating when they get less. I have seen them leave Piece of Cake ungroomed but its so short and Vickery Bowl so slow that its hard to stomach more then a couple runs down it.

Personally I think they should leave either Smith or 10th ungroomed or maybe half of one of them but this is just one of my many complaints with operations.

I've been debating asking another unrelated operations question on their Facebook page, maybe i'll include this too.

It is what it is. They groom twice a day and it was only a couple inches. They do leave it ungroomed a little longer with bigger storms. Smith gets used for race training so it's not likely to go ungroomed long.
