transportation to NYC area (day-time) snowboarding?

I played hooky yesterday to go snowboarding for the first time. I have never felt so hooked on anything in my life. I feel desperate to go again. Stayed on the mountain for 9 hours. Haven't felt this relaxed and happy in SO long! NEED to go again! giggle.

Problem: I don't have a car and my friend who does can't go as often as I'd like to go.

Question: Does anyone have any suggestions of places that either have shuttle service or are accessible via public transportation? I'm a beginner and not picky, so anywhere that has snow works for me right now! I'd be VERY thrilled with any suggestions.

I've heard that Jiminy has a shuttle bus that picks up in Queens. Does anyone know how that works out? Has anyone done it?

Many thanks,
Morrigan

Maybe a ski shop in your area runs weekend trips?
Around CT I know Ski Market and Rotary have them for around $50-60 (transpo and lift ticket)

It's probably a long trip but you can get to Mount Snow/Haystack by taking the train to brattleboro, VT and then the Moover (free bus service) to the resorts. Also there is bus service (Edventures I think)running round trip Friday up and Sunday back to Mount Snow, stratton, bromley.

i am assuming from the title that you live in NYC and are looking for a way to get upstate?

www.emiliosskishop.com

i beleive paragon on 17th and Broadway also has bus trips.

check out www.NYCSKIBUS.com

they got a bus trip to hunter soon

i believe that Hunter has alot of bus companies that bring people in. one that i saw was Academy bus.

Welcome to the forum, morrigan77. We look forward to seeing more of you and learning of your snowboarding adventures! My only warning: skiing and snowboarding are addictive activities and will cause you not to look at things the same again!  Don't worry...we're all outdoors sports addicts here!

I know blades runs weekend busses to Hunter, bummer vibe @ the shop but I have friends who claim the bus trips are super chill.

If you go 2 Belleayre's website you can call for a van pickup @ Union Square, not sure of details.

If you want to go close by I know you can take a bus out of Port Authority to Mountaincreek, not a great mtn but if you are jonesing to make turns it will definitly do.
If you want to ride the park there it'll cost you an extra $5 for the season, an attempt to keep casual cruisers out. Great park though.

Also, check out NYCski.com (NOT to be confused with NYCskiBUS.com). I just found out that they have a bus to Hunter from NYC with a stop in Paramus, New Jersey. I go to Mountain Creek when I ski by myself because driving two and half hours to Hunter is too much, and I'd have to get up too early to get into NYC to catch any bus. I can get to Paramus within an hour, though--and then I can leave the rest of the driving to them!

That reminds me, I almost forgot. Here is the link for Diamond Dogs, a NYC ski club that arranges trips and socials:
